One police officer was killed and two others were injured by a gunman who remains barricaded inside a Missouri home, according to the state highway patrol.
The Clinton officers were serving civil process paperwork at a home on Grandriver St. about 25 miles outside Kansas City on Tuesday when shots rang out, FOX 4 reported.
“Three Clinton police officers have been shot in a residence… One of the officers was killed. The other two were injured and are being treated,” the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Police swarmed the area, and several streets have been blocked off.

Ambulances are also on the scene, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office are assisting.
Residents including Cassie Toliver reported hearing continued gunshots. She told KSHB, “We don’t know whether that’s the shooter or the cops because it’s so dark outside.”
The shooting comes seven months after Clinton Officer Gary Michael was shot dead during a traffic stop in August.
Ian McCarthy is accused of shooting Michael before driving off, crashing his car, and fleeing on foot. He was arrested after two days, and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder last month.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
