Vivo had debuted the Vivo Y53 smartphone in India last year in March 2017. Now, roughly after one year, the Chinese smartphone maker seems to have brought an iteration of the phone in the form of the Vivo Y53i. This newly launched smartphone resembles its predecessor, and it even features similar specifications. Yeah, you read that right. The Vivo Y53i offers the same specifications as that of the Vivo Y53 and it includes the use of a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8MP rear-facing camera, and a 2500mAh battery.
The Vivo Y53i is available in India in Gold. It is priced at Rs.7990 in India, and is available through retail stores across the country. In its price range the Vivo Y53i will compete with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and the Moto E4. These smartphones will be a better choice for your money because they offer much better specifications, but that’s just our suggestion.
As mentioned earlier, the Vivo Y53i comes with hardware specifications that are similar to that of its predecessor, which means you are still getting a 5-inch IPS LCD screen with qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels). The phone is powered by a quad-core 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 chipset, that’s been paired with 2GB of RAM. The device also features 16GB of internal storage, and it can be expanded using the microSD card slot (up to an additional 256GB). Sadly, the Y53i still runs more-than-two-years-old Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, and features Vivo’s Funtouch OS 3.0 user interface customisations.
In terms of imaging, the phone sports an 8MP rear-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. At the front, there’s a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture for handling selfies and video calling. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slot, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, A-GPS, microUSB port, and a 3.5mm audio port. The handset measures 144.2×71.4×7.64mm in dimensions, and weighs around 137g. It also features the Face unlock feature for user authentication. Last but not least, the Vivo Y53i is powered by a 2500mAh battery, similar to the battery capacity of its predecessor.
