Apple’s WWDC 2018 keynote will take place on the June 4, the firm revealed via media invites on Tuesday.
Tim Cook and co. will take the stage at 10am local time on the Monday morning, which is the usual 6pm kick-off time in the UK.
The annual, software-focused event is likely to provide our first look at the iOS 12 operating system for iOS 12.
If previous form is anything to go on, the company will also reveal updates for watchOS, macOS and the tvOS platform for Apple TV. Apple is also likely to update us on the App Store and its various SDKs for the smart home and augmented reality.
The traditional June event is usually light on hardware announcements, but this year there’s reason to be hopeful Apple might change tact.
We’re certainly expecting an update on when AirPower – Apple’s wireless charging pad – will finally go on sale. Siri is also dropping hints about a new HomePod variant, while there’s some hope for an iPhone SE (2018) model.
Speaking of Siri, the personal assistant is blabbing about “ a brand new voice ” that’ll be introduced during the event. She says she’s “getting smarter”, which, if we’re honest, is long overdue.
This year’s event will take place at the McEnery Convention Centre in San Jose, California. The keynote is usually live streamed on Apple devices and we’ll be covering the announcements as they happen.
