Year 4 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will likely be added soon, and this is some of the content that the new year is expected to bring to the table.
At the time of this writing, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery from Jam City lets players play up to Year 3 Chapter 11. There will be at least one more chapter for Year 3 before it’s all said and done, and then players will be able to start their fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Year 4 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery promises to bring with it plenty of new content for players to sink their teeth into. And while there may be even more new content than what’s listed here, this is what we know is coming in Year 4, along with some features that have been teased.
Each year in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery adds a new class for players to complete. In Year 4, players will start attending Care of Magical Creatures class, presumably with Hagrid as their professor. It’s unclear what the rewards will be for completing Care of Magical creatures classes, but it’s likely that players will get free gems for their efforts.
However, another possibility is that Care of Magical Creatures may reward players with pets. We know that adopting pets is coming in a future update, so perhaps learning how to take care of these creatures will unlock some of them for purchase.
Year 3 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery let players visit some new classrooms as well as explore the magical village of Hogsmeade. Year 4 looks as though it will be adding the Forbidden Forest as the new major area, but it will also grant players access to some new areas in the castle as well.
For example, Year 4 will allow players to visit Hagrid’s Hut on a regular basis, as well as the Care of Magical Creatures “classroom.” It’s possible the Forbidden Forest will have segmented areas within it as well, which players will be able to explore at their leisure once they reach Year 4.
Another possibility is that players will be able to enter the Prefects’ Bathroom in Year 4. There is some dialogue in Year 3 that suggests players may be on their way to becoming Prefects in Year 4, though that has yet to be confirmed. It’s possible becoming a Prefect will depend on how well players are doing in classes and the like, but it’s also possible that it will be an automatic story event.
Year 4 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will also add a couple of new friends players can make at school. These friends are Ravenclaw student Andre Egwu and Gryffindor Charlie Weasley. Both of these characters will have already been seen or mentioned by the time Year 4 begins, so they aren’t new characters, but they will be new to the player’s “roster” of friends.
Like any other friends in the game, Andre and Charlie can be leveled for rewards. At the time of this writing, players earn free gems and energy when they upgrade friends, so it’s likely that the rewards for Andre and Charlie will be the same.
Romance options aren’t confirmed for Year 4, but dialogue in-game has suggested that it will be coming. As for which characters will be romance options, Jam City said in an interview that “friends and enemies” will both be potential romance options for the player, meaning characters like Ben Copper, Penny Haywood, or even Merula Snyde could all be romance options.
Year 4 in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery should be coming sooner rather than later, and it will be interesting to see what all it includes beyond what’s listed here. Luckily, fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out, especially if Jam City keeps to its current rate of about one new story chapter per week.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
