Friday night’s episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” opened with a topical fake beer ad
Friday episodes of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” tend to be a bit less topical than the other nights of the week because they tape Friday episodes on Thursday. So we weren’t treated to any jokes about the Susan Collins/Joe Manchin situation Friday night, but the show still began with a sketch making fun of Brett Kavanaugh.
Friday’s cold open bit was a fake beer commercial for Kavanaugh Beer — which is, obviously, a fake beer. The bit began with the point of reference for those who somehow are both somebody who watches Colbert and doesn’t keep up with current events: one of the parts of his hearing with the Senate Judiciary Committee in which he talked about how much he liked beer when he was in high school and also how much he likes beer in the present.
“Yes, we drank beer. I liked beer. I still like beer. We drank beer,” Kavanaugh declared in the opening clip, before the commercial kicked off in earnest.

The commercial played what looks like a series of stock video clips of people holding and/or drinking beer as the narrator dropped some political commentary.
“Do you drink beer? Like beer? Still like beer? Drank beer? Then reach for a cold bottle of Kavanaugh,” the narrator said as the fake ad began.
“Kavanaugh beer is full bodied for great drinkability and supreme judgability. It’s the perfect beer for the judge who doesn’t want to be judged. No calories, no answers. That’s Kavanaugh. The official beer of the Beach Week Ralph Club.”

The ad closed with a dire warning about the potential consequences of drinking Kavanaugh beer.
“Warning: Kavanaugh Beer will give you a hangover that lasts a lifetime appointment.”
