16GB RAM phones may nearly disappear in 2026 as rising memory costs push manufacturers to ship devices with as little as 4GB of RAM.
Phones in 2026 are certain to have a price rise due to the increasing cost of memory modules. We are already seeing its effects with recent flagship launches like the iQOO 15, which saw a whopping 33% price increase over its predecessor in India.
Raising prices, however, won’t work in all markets. In a price-sensitive economy like India, it would be harder for brands to justify higher costs when the actual device might not bring any major improvements.

According to a tipster on Naver, smartphones equipped with 16GB of RAM could nearly go extinct in 2026, except for some manufacturer-specific models.
The source also claims that 4GB RAM models may become far more common than they are today. More concerning, some phones could still end up costing more than current models despite being equipped with less memory.
The leak goes on to say that smartphones with 12GB of RAM could be reduced by 40% and will be replaced by 6GB/8GB models. Meanwhile, 8GB models could see a 50% reduction and be replaced by 4GB/6GB variants.
Much of this pressure comes from the growing demand for memory across multiple industries. This has created a supply crunch that consumers are now starting to feel. And it may not be limited to new and upcoming phones.
A recent report suggests that Samsung is also planning to hike prices for its existing Galaxy phones in India.
The memory crunch is also spilling over into the PC market. According to a TrendForce report, major PC brands like Dell and Lenovo have begun notifying customers about upcoming price hikes. Dell, in particular, is expected to raise PC prices by 15 to 20 percent.

Previously accessible as a release candidate, Apple’s latest software update — iOS 26.2 — is now available to the general public. Among the changes to iPhone functions like AirPlay and Apple Music are two new features for CarPlay, the iOS platform for vehicle infotainment displays found in many modern dashboards. The second CarPlay update to come from iOS 26.2 concerns the Messages app, which has been plagued with some of the most annoying features of iOS 26 since its launch last September. It’s a small, simple change, yet it’s one that many users may appreciate — the ability to disable pinned conversations from the CarPlay app. Pinned conversations stay permanently at the top of Messages, even as more recent texts from other conversations come through. However, not everyone needs or wants this feature, which is why Apple now gives drivers the option to turn off Pinned Conversations. These changes will automatically update on your CarPlay once you install iOS 26.2 on your iPhone. This latest update fixes bugs while also adding to and fleshing out features that were first launched with iOS 26 a few months ago. This change to the UI was called Liquid Glass, a new design language that changed the look of apps, fonts, and windows, making them more translucent while also adding back some of the depth that was infamously removed with iOS 7.
Reactions to Liquid Glass have been predictably mixed, with complaints that it’s too hard to read. It’s widely believed this new design is part of Apple’s long-term plans to introduce smart glasses and build on visionOS, the software platform of its augmented reality headset, Apple Vision Pro. If augmented reality is indeed the future of how we control and interact with our devices, the transparent design of Liquid Glass will be a practical way to see apps and reality at the same time. Until then, though, many users have voiced frustrations with the new look, and some have even sought to reduce the visual effect or revert to an older iOS altogether.
In addition to adding Liquid Glass to CarPlay, iOS 26 also introduced Live Activities, a widget-like feature that updates information from certain apps in real time, from flight departures to baseball scores. Another change to CarPlay included the ability to Tapback push notifications. More customization options were also added, such as font size and wallpaper displays. Considering the widget increase included with iOS 26.2, drivers will likely be able to customize CarPlay even further with future updates to the platform.

DAMASCUS, Syria — Two U.S. service members and one American civilian were killed and three other people wounded in an ambush on Saturday by a lone member of the Islamic State group in central Syria, the the U.S. military’s Central Command said.
The attack on U.S. troops in Syria is the first to inflict casualties since the fall of President Bashar Assad a year ago.
Central Command said in a post on X that as a matter of respect for the families and in accordance with Department of Defense policy, the identities of the service members will be withheld until 24 hours after their next of kin have been notified.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth posted on X: „Let it be known, if you target Americans – anywhere in the world – you will spend the rest of your brief, anxious life knowing the United States will hunt you, find you, and ruthlessly kill you.“
The shooting took place near historic Palmyra, according to the state-run SANA news agency, which earlier said two members of Syria’s security force and several U.S. service members had been wounded. The casualties were taken by helicopter to the al-Tanf garrison near the border with Iraq and Jordan.
SANA said the attacker was killed, without providing further details.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the attacker was a member of the Syrian security force.
The U.S. has hundreds of troops deployed in eastern Syria as part of a coalition fighting the Islamic State group.
Last month, Syria joined the international coalition fighting against the IS as Damascus improves its relations with Western countries following the ouster of Assad when insurgents captured his seat of power in Damascus.
The U.S. had no diplomatic relations with Syria under Assad, but ties have warmed since the fall of the five-decade Assad family rule. The interim president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, made a historic visit to Washington last month where he held talks with President Donald Trump.
IS was defeated on the battlefield in Syria in 2019 but the group’s sleeper cells still carry out deadly attacks in the country. The United Nations says the group still has between 5,000 and 7,000 fighters in Syria and Iraq.
U.S. troops, which have maintained a presence in different parts of Syria – including Al-Tanf garrison in the central province of Homs – to train other forces as part of a broad campaign against IS, have been targeted in the past. One of the deadliest attacks occurred in 2019 in the northern town of Manbij when a blast killed two U.S. service members and two American civilians as well as others from Syria while conducting a patrol.

雪に閉ざされる前の 、インド北部ウッタラカンド州にある集落「ダラリ」に入った。州都デヘラドゥンから車でさらに約 間。6千メートル級の山々に囲まれたガンジス川源流域のこの地を 、濁流が襲った。地元当局によると住民ら4人が死亡し、今も52人が行方不明だという。
災害から3カ月以上経っても、復旧は進んでいない。急斜面を走る川の両端に、柱や壁がひしゃげた家々が十数軒残っている。周辺の宿や商店は、2～3階まで土砂に埋もれていた。近くに泥まみれの子どものサンダルが転がっていた。
「家も牛も、農園も。全てを失った」。リンゴ農家のスビール・シンさん（60）はそう話す。
数日前から集落では雨が続き、その日も朝から雨が降り続いてたという。午後 過ぎ、何かが爆発したような音が響いた。ダラリを見渡せる隣集落のスーリヤ・プラカシュさん（40）が音のした方に目を向けると、濁流が土砂を巻き込んで川を下っていた。
「鉄砲水は時々起きる。だが、今回は見たことのない規模だった」
鋭い指笛の音が谷に響いた。災害や緊急時に、周囲に危険を知らせる集落の決まりごとだ。
バルウィンダル・シンさん（42）は自身が経営する宿で指笛を聞いた。直後、大量の水と土砂が流れ込んできた。階段を屋上まで駆け上がったが、建物は少しずつ押し流され始めた。
「全てが、20秒ほどの間に起きた。どうしようもなかった」
住民によると、 間ほどの間に複数回、土砂が斜面を流れ込んできたという。行方不明者の大半は、リンゴ農場に出稼ぎに来ていたネパール人らだった。生存者の多くも仕事や家を失い、暮らしを破壊された。被災者に健康支援を提供するNGOで活動する、医師のサウラブさん（28）は「多くの人が心の問題を抱えている」と言う。
計測手段の不足から原因は分かっていないが、地元メディアのタイムズ・オブ・インディアは今回の水害はウッタラカンド州でモンスーン期に急増している異常気象の一つだとして、「気候変動の影響への懸念が高まっている」と報じた。
国の調査機関「インド地質調査所」は 発表の論文で、ダラリを襲った災害は、高度4600メートル付近で起きた土砂崩れが引き金だった可能性を指摘した。地表の温度や雪解け水の量などの数値から、高地で温暖化が進んでいるとした上で、そこに数日間降り続いた雨が直接の原因だとした。
州幹部は取材に、気候変動が影響した可能性が「濃厚だ」とし、「温暖化がヒマラヤにニューノーマル（新たな常態）をもたらしている」と明かした。「予測不能になっている」

Berlin – Besucher schieben sich durch funkelnde Beleuchtung, vorbei an den Holzbuden. Doch hier kassieren nicht die gewohnten Verkäufer das Geld: Herzlich willkommen auf Berlins womöglich spritzigstem Adventsmarkt. Obwohl der Becher Glühwein in der Hauptstadt inzwischen etwa sieben Euro kostet, bezahlen Gäste hier eine Pauschalgebühr – für alles. Und damit sorgt der „Weihnachtsmarkt an der Spree“ für Debatten.
Der Weihnachtsmarkt arbeitet hier nach Art eines Pauschalbuffets: Sonntag bis Dienstag ab 20 Uhr beträgt der Einlass 29,90 Euro, an Wochenenden ab 17 Uhr fallen 47,90 Euro an. Hinzu kommen fünf Prozent Gebühr für den Vorverkauf. Der Betrag umfasst sämtliche Speisen und Getränke – von Pfannkuchen über Grillwurst bis zu Glühwein und Bier. Ebenso kosten Vergnügungen wie Eisstockschießen oder „Hau den Lukas“ nichts zusätzlich.
Aber der All-inclusive Weihnachtsmarkt spaltet die Meinungen. Anfang Dezember protestierten Nachbarn gegen die „Sperrung ansonsten öffentlicher Flächen“, wie die Berliner Morgenpost berichtet. Sie bemängeln, dass der Uferweg an der Stralauer Allee seit Mitte November gesperrt bleibt – und das sogar bis zum 30. Dezember. Dennoch waren zahlreiche Termine für den Markt bereits vergriffen. Aber rechtfertigt sich der kostspielige Besuch tatsächlich?
Eine Reporterin unserer Redaktion von Ippen.Media hat den viel diskutierten Adventsmarkt besucht. Ihr Resümee nach einem Abend dort: Ungeachtet der hohen Einlassgebühr von etwa 50 Euro kam sie zu einem wohlwollenden Schluss: „Die Kritik der Anwohner bleibt berechtigt. Doch das Konzept funktioniert: entspannte Atmosphäre, keine Preiskalkulation an jedem Stand, solide Qualität bei den meisten Essensständen“.
Nach dem Abend war sie „pappsatt“ und hatte „etwa 56 Euro Gegenwert verputzt.“ „Das Gefühl, einfach zugreifen zu können, ohne ständig zu rechnen, ohne bei jedem Stand zu überlegen, ob es mir das Geld wert ist, war befreiend“, notiert sie in ihrer Reportage.
Was für sie befreiend war, missfällt einer Kommentatorin unter diesem Beitrag auf Facebook: „Ich gehe dorthin, um die schöne Zeit zu genießen und nicht zuschauen, wie viel ich ausgeben muss – das hat nichts mehr mit Weihnachten zu tun.“ Eine weitere Dame zeigt sich hingegen angetan von dem System. „Man kann sich überall durchprobieren, wo man sonst sagen würde … Na ja, hatte schon den Langos und zwei Glühweine, wird mir zu teuer.“ Ihr Schluss deshalb: „Mega gute Sache.“ Außer Berlin bietet auch eine weitere Großstadt einen Pauschaltarif-Adventsmarkt an. The Department of War told Fox News Digital that „we are aware of reports“, but added that it had „nothing additional to provide at this time.“
„The United States, CIA and military forces are reportedly deeply involved in securing and stabilizing the situation in Syria“, Dan Diker, president of the Jerusalem Center for Security and Foreign Affairs, recently told Fox News Digital.
As of June, the U.S. had about 1,500 troops left in Syria following withdrawals and consolidations ordered by the Pentagon, and that number was expected to drop to just several hundred by the end of this year, according to Fox News Chief National Security correspondent Jennifer Griffin.
Griffin reported that the U.S. had eight bases in Syria to keep an eye on ISIS since the U.S. military went in to prevent the terrorist group from setting up a caliphate in 2014, although three of those bases have since been closed down or turned over to the Syrian Democratic Forces.
On Monday, tens of thousands of Syrians flooded the streets of Damascus to mark the first anniversary of the Assad regime’s collapse.
Those celebrations came a year after former Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad fled the capital as rebel forces swept through the country in a lightning offensive that ended five decades of Assad family rule and opened a new chapter in Syrian history.

Washington, D.C. – US-Präsident Donald Trump wird den Epstein-Fall nicht los. Die große Frage ist, inwieweit Trump in die Machenschaften des Sexualstraftäters Jeffrey Epstein eingeweiht war. Der US-Präsident ist in der Affäre unter Druck geraten, weil er engere Beziehungen zu Epstein bestreitet und seine Regierung nicht wie angekündigt Transparenz in dem Fall geschaffen hat.
Nun haben demokratische Abgeordnete im Kontrollausschuss des US-Repräsentantenhauses weitere Fotos aus Epsteins Nachlass veröffentlicht. Drei der Aufnahmen zeigen Trump, eines davon mit leicht bekleideten Frauen. Insgesamt lägen 95.000 Fotos aus dem Epstein-Nachlass vor, wie die Abgeordneten am Freitag (12. Dezember) im Onlinedienst X mitteilten.
In dem Beitrag auf X hieß es weiter: „Diese verstörenden Bilder werfen noch mehr Fragen zu Epstein und seinen Beziehungen zu einigen der mächtigsten Männer der Welt auf“. Es sei „Zeit, die Vertuschung durch das Weiße Haus zu beenden. Gebt die Akten frei.“
Die Mitteilung enthielt außerdem einen Link zu den veröffentlichten Aufnahmen. In einer ist der heutige US-Präsident mit Epstein sowie einer unidentifizierten jungen Frau zu sehen, ein weiteres Bild zeigt Trumps Gesicht auf einer Kondomverpackung mit der Aufschrift „I“m HUUUUGE!„ (zu Deutsch etwa: Ich bin riesig!). Später veröffentlichten die Abgeordneten weitere Bilder, insgesamt waren es mehr als 70.
In der Vergangenheit hatte Trump mit Blick auf Epstein betont, „nichts mit diesem Mann“ zu tun gehabt zu haben. Nach der Veröffentlichung der neuen Bilder behauptete er auf die Frage von Reportern, die Fotos nicht gesehen zu haben. Ihre Veröffentlichung sei aber „keine große Sache“. Jeder habe diesen Mann gekannt, so Trump weiter. Es gebe Hunderte Menschen, die Fotos mit Epstein hätten. Das Weiße Haus warf den Demokraten „Täuschung“ vor. Eine Sprecherin sagte, erneut „selektiv ausgewählte Fotos mit willkürlichen Schwärzungen“ seien für eine falsche Darstellung veröffentlicht worden.

Das Justizministerium muss die Unterlagen zu dem Fall spätestens bis zum 19. Dezember freigeben. „Trump muss höllische Angst haben. Die Frist zur Veröffentlichung der Akten des US-Justizministeriums endet in einer Woche“, kommentierte der US-Senator Ruben Gallego auf X.
Jeffrey Epstein betrieb über Jahre hinweg einen Missbrauchsring, dem zahlreiche junge Frauen und Mädchen zum Opfer fielen. Bereits vor rund 20 Jahren kam es zu einem ersten Gerichtsverfahren, in dem er sich wegen einzelner Vorwürfe schuldig bekannte. „В течение ночи есть повреждения объектов гражданского назначения, энергетической и промышленной инфраструктуры. В результате ударов возникли возгорания, повреждены административные здания и объекты энергетики. Спасатели работают над ликвидацией последствий. В отдельных районах области наблюдаются перебои с электроснабжением“, – написал Кипер в телеграм-канале.
По предварительным данным, два человека пострадали. Информация о погибших не поступала.
Правоохранители фиксируют последствия вражеской атаки.
