Former adviser to US President Donald Trump Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations with then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak. „Well, [Department of Justice Special Counsel] Robert Mueller and his team of 17 super lawyers has finally found that the Trump transition team colluded with a foreign power to subvert America’s political system,“ Blumenthal began. „Actually, they colluded with a foreign power to undermine a sitting American president. You would think there’d be a lot more outrage about this. I actually subjected myself to 30 minutes of Rachel Maddow last night to see if she would actually touch this issue, and she didn’t — because that country is Israel.“
„Michael Flynn really had discussed three orders of business with Sergey Kislyak, then the Russian ambassador to the US. The first of was US-Russian cooperation in Syria to defeat al-Qaeda and [Daesh], which actually is kind of controversial in Washington, especially among the Obama national security officials who had a hand in the program to arm and equip Syrian rebels who are allied with al-Qaeda. But that doesn’t show collusion.“
„The other point was Flynn egging Kislyak to have Russia not retaliate for US sanctions that were imposed under Obama because of unproven allegations that Russia hacked the DNC,“ said Blumenthal. „What you have there is Flynn attempting to influence Russia, not the other way around — again, the collusion narrative is undermined.“
„But then you have a final point where Flynn is asking Kislyak to assert his authority to have Russia veto a United Nations resolution condemning Israel for settlement activity [in the West Bank] — a resolution that Obama planned to abstain from and allow to pass as kind of a final ’screw you‘ to [Israeli Prime Minister] Benjamin Netanyahu.“
The resolution, UN Security Council Resolution 2334, condemned the building of Israeli settlements in the West Bank as a „flagrant violation“ of international law. Fourteen of the 15 members of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution, including Russia. Only one state, the US, abstained.
„We learned that Flynn was acting here on behalf of Jared Kushner, the presidential son-in-law who is also the son of Charles Kushner, a longtime friend of Benjamin Netanyahu whose family foundation has funded Israeli settlements,“ added Blumenthal. „He has basically helped support the political empire of Benjamin Netanyahu for years — in fact, when Jared Kushner was a teenager, he’d have to get up and leave his bedroom when Netanyahu was in town because Netanyahu would stay literally in his bed with his family when he was on trips to New York.“
„So this relationship with Netanyahu is what all the Israeli government drew on to turn the Trump transition team into its own personal vehicle to attempt to attack Barack Obama and the sitting American administration. This is as clear a case of collusion against an American president with a foreign power that I’ve ever seen in my life, and we’re hearing not dead silence, but it’s being treated as business as usual.“
Blackmon pointed out that many mainstream liberal outlets and voices claimed Flynn’s indictment as a huge victory for the collusion investigation — but the volume quickly dropped as these voices realized that Flynn’s actions did not point to collusion.
Blumenthal concurred. „This pattern is dangerous because you see these stories come out but eventually get retracted it or corrected, but the retraction is buried and so people are left with the impression that there is something there, that this is a huge story, and that Trump is going down.“
„So the Russiagate investigation continues and all of the damage that it caused diplomacy between the US and Russia simply deepens, all as a result of the of anti-Russian atmosphere that’s been cultivated in Washington by this opportunistic and deeply unprofessional media as well as by the Democrats that are desperate to explain away their miserable failure to win against the most beatable candidate probably that’s ever existed in my lifetime.“

‘The Fire is Out of Control’: Blazes Fueled by High Winds Sweep Los Angeles

On Tuesday, two dangerous fires swept through southern California, forcing tens of thousands of people to evacuate.
California Governor Jerry Brown declared a state of emergency in Ventura County Tuesday morning.
„This fire is very dangerous and spreading rapidly, but we’ll continue to attack it with all we’ve got,“ Brown said, according to the Los Angeles Times. „It’s critical residents stay ready and evacuate immediately if told to do so.“
The first fire, named the Thomas Fire, started Monday evening north of Santa Paula, California, growing rapidly overnight and reaching the city of Ventura. So far it has consumed at least 45,000 acres and burned down at least 150 structures, including a 200-unit apartment complex and Vista Del Mar, a psychiatric hospital.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office first received reports of the fire at 6:24 p.m and by midnight the fire had already engulfed 10,000 acres.
Almost 200,000 people lost power in Ventura County on Tuesday, making it challenging for the 1,100 firefighters to put out the flames.
The second major fire began Tuesday morning in Los Angeles County and quickly enveloped more than 4,000 acres. About 700 firefighters responded to what was labeled the Creek Fire.
According to officials, both fires were fueled by dry conditions and powerful winds.
„It’s a very difficult moment, but we will get through this,“ Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said on Tuesday, the New York Post reported. „We are a resilient city, we are a strong city, we are a capable city.“
Police Sgt. Eric Buschow confirmed there have been no fatalities so far and just one injury.
„[Conditions are] not going to get any better anytime soon, and the fire is out of control,“ Buschow said.
Garcetti has warned those with asthma or other health conditions to stay indoors as the smoke from the fires has caused poor air quality.
California has suffered through some of its most catastrophic fires ever this year. In October, more than a dozen fires blazed through the northern part of the state, burning thousands of acres along the way. The La Tuna Fire in September also sent massive amounts of smoke into the air above Los Angeles and forced the evacuation of hundreds of homes.

President Donald Trump told Israeli and Arab leaders on Tuesday that he intends to move the U. S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, a decision that breaks with decades of U. S. policy and risks fueling violence in the Middle East.
WASHINGTON/JERUSALEM (Reuters) – President Donald Trump told Israeli and Arab leaders on Tuesday that he intends to move the U. S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, a decision that breaks with decades of U. S. policy and risks fueling violence in the Middle East.
Senior U. S. officials said Trump on Wednesday is expected to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital while delaying relocating the embassy from Tel Aviv for another six months, though he plans to order his aides to immediately begin planning such a move.
U. S. endorsement of Israel’s claim to all of Jerusalem as its capital would reverse long-standing U. S. policy that the city’s status must be decided in negotiations with the Palestinians, who want East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state. The international community does not recognize Israeli sovereignty over the entire city, home to sites holy to the Muslim, Jewish and Christian religions.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Jordan’s King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, who all received telephone calls from Trump, joined a mounting chorus of voices warning that unilateral U. S. steps on Jerusalem would derail a fledgling U. S.-led peace effort and unleash turmoil in the region.
The White House said that Trump had also spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a longtime proponent of a U. S. embassy move to Jerusalem.
Netanyahu’s office did not respond to a request for comment, but a senior Israeli minister welcomed Trump’s decision while vowing that Israel would be prepared for any outbreak of violence.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said that Trump, who promised during the presidential campaign to move the embassy in Israel, would give a speech on Wednesday about his Jerusalem decision. “The president I would say is pretty solid in his thinking at this point,” she said, declining to provide details.
Trump notified Abbas “of his intention to move the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem,” Abbas spokesman Nabil Abu Rdainah said.
Abbas, in response, “warned of the dangerous consequences such a decision would have to the peace process and to the peace, security and stability of the region and of the world” and also appealed to the Pope and the leaders of Russia, France and Jordan to intervene.
The Jordanian monarch, whose dynasty is the custodian of the Muslim holy sites in Jerusalem, told Trump that moving the embassy would have “dangerous repercussions” for the region and would obstruct U. S. efforts to promote Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, according to a palace statement.
King Salman stressed to Trump that any U. S. announcement on the status of Jerusalem would ”inflame Muslim feelings all over the world,” the Saudi Press Agency said.
None of the leaders’ statements said whether Trump specified the timing of an embassy move, a notion supported by successive governments in Israel, a close U. S. ally.
But U. S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Trump was expected to sign a national security waiver – as have his predecessors – keeping the embassy in Tel Aviv for another six months but would commit to setting the move in motion. However, he was not planning to set a specific timetable, the officials said.
The Trump administration would need time to overcome logistical issues such as lack of a secure embassy building and staff housing in Jerusalem, according to one U. S. official.
Trump appears intent on satisfying the pro-Israel, right-wing base, including evangelical Christians, that helped him win the presidency but was disappointed when he delayed the embassy move in June. No other country has its embassy in Jerusalem.
Israel captured Arab East Jerusalem in the 1967 Middle East war and later annexed it, an action not recognized internationally.
‘A BIG MISTAKE’
Israeli Intelligence Minister Israel Katz, who met last week with U. S. officials in Washington, told Israel’s Army Radio: ”My impression is that the president will recognize Jerusalem, the eternal capital of the Jewish people for 3,000 years, as the capital of the state of Israel.”
Asked whether Israel was preparing for a wave of violence if Trump recognizes Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, he said: ”We are preparing for every option. Anything like that can always erupt. If Abu Mazen (Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas) will lead it in that direction then he will be making a big mistake.”
Islamist militant groups such as al Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah have in the past tried to exploit Muslim sensitivities over Jerusalem to stoke anti-Israel and anti-U. S. sentiment.
Asked whether Trump recognized that his Jerusalem decision could spark violence, Sanders said: “A number of things have been looked at that have been weighed into the president’s decision.”
Senior U. S. officials told Reuters some officers in the State Department were also deeply concerned and the European Union, the Palestinian Authority, Saudi Arabia and the Arab League all warned that any such declaration would have repercussions across the region.
Turkey threatened on Tuesday to cut diplomatic ties with Israel if Trump recognizes Jerusalem.
Katz took to Twitter to reject Turkey’s threat and reiterate Israel’s position on the city, which is one of a long list of stumbling blocks in years of failed peace talks with the Palestinians.
A U. S. official said the consensus U. S. intelligence estimate on U. S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital was that it would risk triggering a backlash against Israel, and also potentially against U. S. interests in the Middle East.
It is also likely to upset an Israeli-Palestinian peace push led by Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, in pursuit of what the U. S. president has called the “ultimate deal.” The initiative has made little progress.
The White House said in a statement that in calls with Israeli and Arab leaders, Trump “reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Israeli-Palestinian peace talks” and “underscored the importance of bilateral cooperation with each partner.”
Arab criticism of Trump’s plan contrasted sharply with the praise Washington’s traditional Arab allies heaped on him at the beginning of his administration. They saw Trump as re-engaging in the region after what they perceived as former President Barack Obama’s distancing of himself from them, as well as taking a tougher stand against Iran.
The European Union’s top diplomat, Federica Mogherini, said on Tuesday that “any action that would undermine” peace efforts to create two separate states for the Israelis and the Palestinians “must absolutely be avoided.”
U. N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has “consistently warned against any unilateral action that would have the potential to undermine the two-state solution,” U. N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters in New York.

この日の理事会は２０１４年ソチ五輪での不正を調べていた委員会からの報告で、裏付けのある事実に基づき、ロシアの組織的な不正が行われたと認定した。２０１４年ソチ五輪当時のスポーツ相だったムトコ副首相は五輪から永久追放処分となった。
各国の反ドーピング機関からはロシアにはびこるドーピング文化を一掃するには、選手団の全面締め出しを求める声も強かったが、それは見送られた。

自民党税制調査会は５日、平成３０年度税制改正の焦点である所得税改革で年収８００万円超の会社員を増税にする方針を固め、公明党との調整に入った。１千万円以上の年金受給者や年金以外に１千万円超の収入がある人も増税にする。実施は３２年１月を目指す。一方、政府は賃上げや先進技術へ投資した企業に対する２段階減税を来年度改正に盛り込み、対象企業の法人税の実質負担を２０％程度へ下げる方針も固めた。
いずれも与党が１４日に決定する３０年度税制改正大綱への盛り込みを目指す。
原案通りの所得税改革が実現すれば、年収８００万円超の会社員は増税になる見込みだが、２２歳以下の子供や介護が必要な人がいる会社員は、負担増を避けるため年末調整により増税分を還付する。増税対象は会社員全体の約９％。子育て世帯や介護世帯を除くと５％程度になる見通し。
今回の所得税の改革は３つの控除の見直しが柱となる。具体的には、誰もが受けられる「基礎控除」と、会社員に適用される「給与所得控除」、年金受給者が受けられる「公的年金等控除」を一体的に見直す。
基礎控除は現在の３８万円から一律１０万円増額して４８万円とする一方、給与所得控除と年金控除を一律で１０万円引き下げる。その上で年収が８００万円に達すると給与所得控除が１９０万円で頭打ちになる仕組みとし、それを上回る年収を稼ぐ会社員は増税になる。一方、８００万円以下の人は控除の増減額が一致して、税負担は変わらない。

UNITED NATIONS/WASHINGTON – United Nations political affairs chief Jeffrey Feltman arrived in North Korea on Tuesday for a rare visit that some analysts and diplomats hope could spark a UN-led effort to defuse rising tensions over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs. The former senior US State Department official is the highest-level UN official to visit North Korea since 2012. During a four-day visit he is due to meet Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho to discuss "issues of mutual interest and concern." "This is broadly a policy dialogue with (North Korea). I think we have to wait and see what comes out," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters on Tuesday. "All key member states… were informed and briefed of the visit." UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told Russia, Japan, the United States, China and North and South Korea in August he was available to help broker talks. So-called six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear program stalled in 2008. A UN official, speaking on condition of anonymity, described expectations for Feltman's visit as "modest and high at the same time, meaning that they depend on what our hosts are thinking as well." "We need to find a way to scale back tensions," the official said. "I don't think we will have a major breakthrough being announced at the end of this trip. But the visit could serve as a step to build a framework for engagement." Suzanne DiMaggio of the New America Foundation think tank, a participant in recent unofficial talks with North Korea, said Feltman could propose during his visit to Pyongyang that Guterres play a mediation role. "I do think that the Trump administration would like to explore talks about talks at this stage. I think the North Koreans are assessing the timing of when to do that," she told a seminar in Washington on North Korea. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Feltman was not traveling on behalf of the US government. "And he's not traveling—I want to make this clear—with any kind of message from the US government… He's going on behalf of the UN, not the US government," she told a regular news briefing. Nauert said Washington remained open to talks if North Korea showed it was serious about giving up its nuclear weapons, but added: "The activities they have been engaged in recently have shown that they are not interested, they are not serious about sitting down and having conversations." North Korea has been working to develop nuclear-tipped missiles capable of reaching the United States in defiance of UN sanctions. It conducted its sixth and largest nuclear test in September and last week tested a missile capable of reaching anywhere in America. Feltman told the 15-member Security Council last week that its unity "creates an opportunity for sustained diplomatic engagement—an opportunity that must be seized in these dangerous times to seek off-ramps and work to create conditions for negotiations." In September, Russian UN Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia urged a return to dialogue, including "by leveraging mediation efforts" by Guterres. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said on Tuesday that Pyongyang was seeking dialogue with Washington on its nuclear program, according to RIA news agency. Morgulov, at a conference in Berlin, was quoted as saying Russia had communication channels with North Korea open and was ready to exert its influence on Pyongyang. Sweden's Deputy UN Ambassador Carl Skau told reporters he hoped Guterres could mediate in "probably the largest threat to international peace and security at the moment." Європейський Союз закликав уряд України підтримувати, а не підривати роботу антикорупційних органів.
Про це йдеться в заяві прес-секретаря із закордонних справ і політики безпеки ЄС Майї Косьянчич, розміщеному на офіційному сайті Європейської служби зовнішніх дій.
Брюссель розкритикував дії Генеральної прокуратури України у розкритті інформації про розслідування НАБУ.
„Розкриття інформації про розслідування фактів корупції з боку Генеральної прокуратури істотно послаблює можливості Національного антикорупційного бюро проводити ефективні розслідування, а також підриває віру людей у можливість ефективної протидії корупції“, – йдеться в заяві Євросоюзу.
У Брюсселі нагадали, що боротьба з корупцією залишається ключовим елементом у розвитку відносин України та ЄС“, зазначивши, що від неї залежить успіх інших реформ.
Євросоюз закликав українську владу активізувати зусилля для того, щоб забезпечити незалежність, операційну здатність та ефективність антикорупційних інституцій“.
„Роботу цих органів треба посилювати, а не підривати“, – додали в Брюсселі.

Нагадаємо, що 29 листопада Державна міграційна служба повідомила про те, що СБУ затримала агента НАБУ при спробі підкупу заступника голови ДМС Діни Пімахової.
Пізніше в НАБУ заявили про те, що Генеральна прокуратура і Служба безпеки незаконно втрутилися та зірвали спецоперацію бюро, спрямовану на виявлення учасників організованого злочинного угруповання у Державній міграційній службі .
У свою чергу генпрокурор Юрій Луценко заявив, що вважає звинувачення на адресу затриманого детектива НАБУ цілком обгрунтованим.
Пізніше НАБУ опублікувало фрагменти розсекречених аудіо- і відеоматеріалів, отриманих під час проведення негласних слідчих дій у рамках спецоперації, які доводять, що чиновниця ДМС дійсно могла бути причетною до корупційних схем.
У той же час Луценко оголосив агентів НАБУ „незаконним угрупованням“. За його словами, вони використовують незаконні методи провокації. Ніхто з них не допущений до державної таємниці. Але їм надаються матеріали прослуховування СБУ, що є кримінальним злочином.
З іншого боку, в Держдепі США розкритикували спецоперацію ГПУ проти НАБУ. Держсекретар Рекс Тіллерсон заявив, що „Україна втрачає свою душу“, вдаючись до подібного роду дій. #НАБУ #Україна #корупція #розслідування #ГПУ #Євросоюз

У свою чергу генпрокурор Юрій Луценко заявив, що вважає звинувачення на адресу затриманого детектива НАБУ цілком обгрунтованим.
Пізніше НАБУ опублікувало фрагменти розсекречених аудіо- і відеоматеріалів, отриманих під час проведення негласних слідчих дій у рамках спецоперації, які доводять, що чиновниця ДМС дійсно могла бути причетною до корупційних схем.
У той же час Луценко оголосив агентів НАБУ „незаконним угрупованням“. За його словами, вони використовують незаконні методи провокації. Ніхто з них не допущений до державної таємниці. Але їм надаються матеріали прослуховування СБУ, що є кримінальним злочином.

Генеральна прокуратура України показала ще не всі докази у справі лідера „Руху нових сил“ Міхеїла Саакашвілі та покаже більше у разі потреби.
Про це в ефірі “ Громадського радіо “ заявив речник ГПУ Андрій Лисенко.
„Ті купюри, які фігурували у цій відеозйомці, переписані ще до того, як їх передавали. Це однин із доказів. Є письмові докази тих, хто доставляв ці гроші і передавав. Плюс відеозйомка“, – розповів Лисенко.
„Плюс ще докази, які не оприлюднені. Вони є. У разі необхідності вони будуть надані суду. Після цього суд прийматиме рішення щодо винесення вироку тим особам, які намагались здійснити спробу повалення державної влади в Україні“, – додав він.
Речник ГПУ також наголосив, що правоохоронці не вручали Саакашвілі підозру у скоєнні злочину, а лише ознайомили із постановою про затримання у присутності його особистого адвоката.
Нагадаємо, ГПУ передала поліції постанову на оголошення в розшук Міхеїла Саакашвілі, тож поліція приступила до виконання цього завдання. Трапилося це після невдалої спроби правоохоронців 5 грудня затримати Саакашвілі: політика з авто поліції витягли активісти. За словами глави ГПУ Юрія Луценка, Саакашвілі затримали через фінансування його команди Сергієм Курченком.

ЧС-2018. ФІФА прокоментувала відсторонення Росії від Олімпіади

Організація прийняла до відома рішення МОК.
Міжнародна федерація футболу (ФІФА) зазначила, що відсторонення збірної Росії від Олімпіади-2018 у Пхенчхані не вплине на підготовку до чемпіонату світу з футболу.
ЧС-2018 запланований в Росії з 14 червня до 15 липня.
„ФІФА прийняла до відома рішення МОК про участь російських спортсменів на Олімпійських іграх в Пхенчхані. Це рішення не впливає на підготовку до чемпіонату світу з футболу 2018 року, ми продовжуємо працювати над тим, щоб зробити цей турнір кращим“, – повідомили в прес-службі ФІФА.
Також в організації прокоментували відсторонення від участі у всіх наступних Олімпіадах віце-прем’єра РФ, главу Російського футбольного союзу (РФС) Віталій Мутка .
„Коли справа доходить до потенційних дисциплінарних або етичних рішень щодо конкретних осіб, тільки відповідні органи ФІФА можуть оцінити їх“, – додали в прес-службі .
Як повідомлялося, 5 грудня виконком МОК у Лозанні усунув збірну Росії від участі в Іграх-2018 в Пхенчхані, які пройдуть у лютому. „Чистим“ російським спортсменам дозволили брати участь під олімпійським прапором.
Рішення приймалося на основі висновків, зроблених двома комісіями: Дениса Освальда і Самуеля Шмідта. Перша займалася повторною перевіркою допінг-проб учасників Олімпійських ігор в Сочі, друга розслідувала причетність російських чиновників до допінгових махінацій.
Нагадаємо, за вживання допінгу МОК вже відібрав у Росії 11 медалей. Росія втратила перше місце Олімпіади в Сочі за кількістю медалей.
У 2016 році розгорівся допінговий скандал після доповідей Макларена, який очолював розслідування WADA.
У них йшлося про те, що російські спортсмени були залучені в маніпуляції з допінг-пробами на Олімпіаді 2014 року в Сочі. Крім того, Мутка звинуватили в допінгових махінаціях, а до заміни допінг-проб на „чисті“ були причетні вищі урядовці Росії.
