Mann vergewaltigt Studentin auf Uni-Toilette – Verdächtiger gefasst

0

Breaking silence, Obama speaks out on Trump immigrants order

Washington – Former President Barack Obama praised protesters who amassed across the country in opposition to President Donald Trump’s immigration orders, breaking his silence on political issues for the first time since leaving office.
„The president fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religion,“ Obama’s spokesperson, Kevin Lewis, said.
In his first statement on behalf of the former president, Lewis said Obama was „heartened“ by the amount of engagement taking place in US communities. Lewis, a former White House official, pointed out that Obama used his last official speech as president to talk about Americans‘ responsibility to be „guardians of our democracy,“ even in non-election years.
„Citizens exercising their constitutional right to assemble, organize and have their voices heard by their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake,“ Lewis said.
Lewis didn’t specifically invoke Trump’s immigration order. But he rejected comparisons between Trump’s recent actions and Obama’s foreign policy decisions.
Trump said he took cues from Obama by temporarily banning travel to the US from citizens of seven countries that Obama’s administration identified as places of terrorism concern. But Obama’s designation related strictly to eligibility to enter the US without a visa; he never considered a travel ban.
Obama’s office also circulated excerpts from a speech the former president gave in November 2015, in which he called the idea of a ban on Muslims „shameful“.
„That’s not American. That’s not who we are. We don’t have religious tests to our compassion,“ Obama said in the aftermath of attacks in Paris that prompted calls for the US to restrict Syrian refugees from entering the United States.
Trump and the White House have vigorously disputed the notion that Trump’s order is a „Muslim ban. “ Trump’s halts all refugee admissions for 120 days, suspends the Syrian refugee programme indefinitely and also suspends entry to the US from seven majority-Muslim countries for 90 days. But the White House has stressed that dozens of other Muslim-majority countries aren’t included.
Lewis‘ comments mark the first time Obama has weighed in on Trump’s actions since Obama left office on January 20. In his final weeks as president, Obama said he planned to follow George W. Bush’s example by giving his successor room to govern without being second-guessed.
Yet Obama pointedly reserved the right to speak out if Trump violated what Obama called basic American values. He suggested a ban on Muslims or a move by Trump to deport immigrants brought to the US illegally as children would cross that threshold.

Fed likely to keep rates steady as it awaits Trump economic plan

0

NewsHubThe U. S. Federal Reserve is expected to keep interest rates unchanged on Wednesday in its first policy decision since President Donald Trump took office, as the central bank awaits greater clarity on his economic policies.
Trump has promised a large infrastructure spending program, tax cuts, a rollback of regulations and a renegotiation of trade deals but has offered few details or a timeline for their roll out since his victory in the Nov. 8 election.
The central bank’s latest policy decision is scheduled to be released at 2 p.m. EST on Wednesday at the conclusion of a two-day meeting. Fed Chair Janet Yellen is not due to hold a press conference.
The policy decision will come a week after Yellen underscored that the U. S. economy is near full employment and warned of a „nasty surprise“ on inflation if the Fed is too slow with its rate hikes.
Economists polled by Reuters have all but ruled out a rate increase at this week’s meeting. Investors next see an interest rate rise in June, according to Fed futures data compiled by the CME Group.
The Fed raised its benchmark interest rate at its last policy meeting in December, the second such move in a decade, to a target range between 0.50 percent and 0.75 percent. It forecast a further three rate increases this year.
Despite encouraging U. S. economic data, Fed policymakers are currently hampered in assessing how quickly inflation might rise until they have more information on Trump’s economic plans.
„At the moment there’s incredible uncertainty surrounding fiscal policy and the potential for stimulus and the composition of that,“ said Paul Ashworth, an economist at Capital Economics. „The Fed can’t react until it knows what to react to. “
With the U. S. economy already bumping up against full employment, Trump’s promises on fiscal stimulus and tax reform could quickly spur higher inflation as would imposing tariffs on Mexican imports.
That may cause Fed policymakers to raise rates faster.
Other policies, such as an immigration crackdown, go against what the Fed argues the U. S. economy needs to grow over the long term.
U. S. stocks fell on Monday after Trump curtailed travel and immigration to the United States from seven predominantly Muslim countries.
The S&P 500 index is still up roughly 6 percent since Trump’s victory and the robustness of the domestic economy makes the United States increasingly divergent from Japan, the euro zone and Britain, none of which are expected to raise rates anytime soon.
The Fed will likely only make minor tweaks in its policy statement on Wednesday to reflect a string of positive recent economic reports.
„Changes to the … statement should be mostly upbeat,“ Roberto Perli, an economist at Cornerstone Macro LLC, said in a note to clients.
The U. S. unemployment rate is 4.7 percent and business investment has improved, despite a slowdown in fourth-quarter economic growth caused mostly by a widening trade deficit. Consumer spending, which accounts for more than two-thirds of the nation’s economic activity, rose solidly in December, according to Commerce Department data released on Monday.

For China, a Rethink on Donald Trump

0

NewsHubSHANGHAI—The officials who look after China’s relations with the world respect—even admire—a tough negotiator. That’s how they first thought about the challenge of Donald Trump.
Even when he rattled the foundations of U. S.-China relations by taking a call from the Taiwan president after his election, their calm response reflected hopes that he was bluffing. Indeed, Mr. Trump encouraged the idea by suggesting that trade concessions…

Ionic 2 Brings Performance Improvements and New Native Plugin System

0

NewsHubThe Ionic team has released version 2.0 of its JavaScript framework, bringing with it new components, features, and tools, including a new native plugin system.
In the blog post Announcing Ionic 2.0.0 Final , Ionic co-founder Max Lynch describes how the Ionic team worked closely with the Angular team „to build the next generation of Ionic Framework“ on top of Angular 2. While Lynch says it was „rough going“ at points, the decisions of the development team along the way have been vindicated, with Ionic apps benefiting from a significantly faster Angular 2, giving them an „inherent performance improvement out of the box. “
Among the most significant of the improvements in version 2.0 of Ionic is built-in error handling and debugging features.
Ionic 2’s first RC release had a new build toolchain called App Scripts for building, testing, and running apps. With the final release, new error handling and debugging features are built in to the application. Lynch says: When a compile error is introduced while developing, using the ionic serve command, details of the error will be shown directly in your browser window. This feature is extremely useful for helping track down issues with code and keeps you focused on development instead of switching back and forth to the terminal.
In the performance improvements, Ionic 2.0 now scrolls with 60FPS on Android and iOS, replacing JavaScript scrolling. Lynch says Ionic’s Virtual Scroll implementation helps developers to build apps that are able to scroll through very large lists with only a minimal performance hit. Also new to Ionic 2 is a rendering pipeline that helps to reduce layout thrashing and repaints, by only redrawing changed portions of their view.
The community’s reaction to the final 2.0 release of Ionic has been positive. In the Hacker News discussion around the release, user jbmorgado asked „I was really very well impressed by the small size of ionic apps. It’s in the order of ~3MB which is great. But the startup times are somewhat big. I’m talking, for the simplest of applications a startup time of ~5.5 seconds in ionic 2 (the beta) vs ~2 seconds in React Native in Android. For me, that detail has a significant impact in usability. Any plans to work on those startup times? “
Justin Willis from Ionic replied : Start up time is something that we are very focused on at the moment. Especially on the PWA side of things, TTI (time to interactive) is exceedingly important to ensure a good user experience. We are working on a few things at the moment but most likely the first one to hit is gonna be code splitting. So with code splitting, instead of shipping just one big bundle you will be shipping smaller bundles that are lazy loaded based on routes. This means that when the app first loads only the first bundle for the first view in your app will have to be loaded, parsed etc and then the other bundles will be lazy loaded.
Developers wanting to use Ionic 2 need to update to the latest CLI with npm install -g ionic , and start a new project with its Getting Started guide. It is important to note that Ionic 2.0 currently requires Angular 2.2.1, and prevents a prod build with any newer version of Angular. At time of press, the Ionic team hadn’t yet confirmed if it will be supporting Angular 2.3 or progressing directly to Angular 4.

Only 49% of marketers are pushed to reinvent customer service due to technology

0

NewsHubOnly 49% of marketers have said they are under pressure to reinvent their customer service strategy as a result of technology disruption , according to recent research.
A study by the Chartered Institute of Marketing found 28% of markers feel they do not have the finances to invest in customer experience changes needed in the wake of disruptive tech.
Customer experience is becoming increasingly important for consumer-focused firms, with 20% of businesses saying customer experience would be their main focus in 2017.
Tech is playing a role in delivering the services businesses use to deliver a good customer experience, with 42% of marketers saying personalisation will be a priority over the next year and 37% looking to focus on data-driven marketing.
Personalisation is a tactic that is increasing among brands and retailers. They use data to tailor interactions with consumers around their interests and previous brand interactions, something that is becoming increasingly important in an omni-channel environment where customers have a lot of choice.
However, 11% said customer experience is not a focus for them over the next year.
Chris Daly, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, said customer experience should be an important focus as the customer is once again regaining the power in the relationship between customers and brands.
“I question the 11% who say customer experience is not a focus – no matter what business you are in, the customer should always be at the heart of the operation. It’s encouraging to see customer experience is being given the consideration needed at a business level, and that marketing is clearly playing a more strategic role,” said Daly.
Just as technology is blurring the line between online and offline shopping , 33% of marketers believe the lines between digital and marketing are becoming more blurred.
Almost a third of marketers said they were the part of the business in charge of the customer experience strategy, and 15% of firms said they have undergone transformation in the past year to stay relevant in the current landscape.
Marketing technology, such as Chatbots and virtual reality (VR), is starting to appear as a focus in the marketing industry for customer engagement, however only 9% said this will be a focus over the next year.
This focus on using technology to increase customer experience is changing career paths of those in the industry, and 32% of marketers said marketing is now seen as a pathway towards senior management.
“It’s encouraging to see so many young people joining the marketing profession with long-term ambitions of reaching senior management positions,” said Daly.
“An increasing number of marketers have made the move to chief executive roles. This trend was also reflected by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), who revealed the role of marketing director is now the third most highly paid job title in the UK.”
However, the 7% who said they pursued a marketing role with the goal of being promoted to senior management no longer see this as an option, perhaps as a result of industry skills gaps.
The digital skills gaps in the UK is costing the economy around £63bn a year , and many people are unable to participate in modern society due to the increasing number of job roles that require technology skills.
