Universal Studio has announced plans to build a Super Mario World at its theme park in Japan.
OSAKA, JAPAN — For more than 30 years, gamers around the world have come to know the world of Super Mario Bros.
Soon they’ll be able to actually experience that world as Universal Studio has announced plans to build a Super Mario World at its theme park in Japan before bringing the world to parks in California and Japan, according to Business Insider.
The world will feature an array of shops, attractions and restaurants all themed in the universe surrounding Mario. During a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, officials said there will be a Mario Kart portion of the park that will be an immersive attraction for guests.
The video released this week that announces the park does not show anything other than a computer rendering of what the park could look like. However, photos of the construction of the park have been making the rounds on social media.
It is unknown when the parks will be opening in the United States, meaning gamers will have to wait patiently for the park to open or start planning a trip to Japan in 2020.
