Cutler is putting off retirement for a one-year deal with Miami.
A scan of the headlines and analysis following Jay Cutler agreeing to a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins featured a common adjective.
Desperate.
Desperate describes the Dolphins turning to a quarterback who was bound for the broadcast booth, a free agent seemingly nobody else wanted. But once Ryan Tannehill went down with a torn ACL, head coach Adam Gase had his replacement in mind.
But, why?
Yahoo! Sports‘ Dan Wetzel sums it up perfectly:
„It was something though. With only Matt Moore as a quarterback possibility in Miami, it’s likely Gase would be happy with similar production out of Cutler. Miami has playmakers and a defense Chicago didn’t. It’s coming off a 10-6 season in which it made the playoffs.“
So it’s a one-year, $10 million deal for Cutler, in a no-lose situation. And Miami felt it had to roll the dice, and obviously with someone not named Colin Kaepernick.
Jay Cutler would be Dolphins‘ 18th starting QB since Dan Marino retired
