One student was killed and as many as four other people were injured in a shooting at Freeman High School outside of Spokane, Washington, Wednesday morning.
The shooter opened fire just after 10 a.m., the Spokesman-Review reports. Three victims were admitted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in Spokane and all are in stable condition, according to a hospital spokesperson. All Spokane-area schools were temporarily placed on lockdown after the shooting. The shooting occurred one day after a lockdown drill was conducted at the district’s schools, according to Annie Baxter, who encountered alarms as she dropped her daughters off at the Freeman Middle School Wednesday morning; the middle school sits across the street from the high school. „They did a modified lockdown drill yesterday, “ Baxter told the Spokesman-Review . „I thought it was weird because they wouldn’t do [a drill] two days in a row.“
