Destiny 2 players who have upgraded their console to the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X will soon benefit from an update that promises to upgrade the title for the new hardware.
Now that powerhouse consoles in the form of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are both available to purchase for gamers throughout the world, several existing titles will see performance upgrades to make their expensive purchases worthwhile. One of those titles is Bungie’s Destiny 2, and the latest This Week At Bungie report confirms that the shooter will see some real enhancements on the new hardware.
In a section of the blog post entitled “High Fidelity,” Bungie’s Community Manager Cozmo outlines what players can expect when booting up Destiny 2 on a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X for the first time after downloading the new patch. The MMO-inspired shooter will reportedly scale to meet the potential of the new hardware, and that means significant graphical improvements are in order.
On December 5, packaged alongside the launch of Curse of Osiris and Season Two, Bungie are releasing an update for Destiny 2 that will deliver “stunning gameplay with high dynamic range (HDR) lighting” to the new consoles. PS4 Pro users will see adaptive 4K resolution as part of this update, while Xbox One X owners will be treated to the full 4K. Concluding the segment, Cozmo confirms that those players willing to migrate to the improved generation of consoles will have an experience that is worth their investment.
We already have a vague idea of how much better Destiny 2 will look on the new systems, seeing as comparison gameplay was displayed earlier this year, showing Horizon: Zero Dawn‘s upgrades on the PS4 Pro. Specifically designed around the new system, the already beautiful title sees vast improvements which add significant detail to the game world, specifically to character models and environments.
In other Destiny 2 news, those users who are playing the game on PC are having severe issues with the game’s anti-cheat software. More and more players seem to be claiming that they have been unfairly banned from Bungie’s latest title, though Cozmo’s comments on the matter suggest the issues stem from any sort of cheat engine running while the user is accessing the game. Cheat tools for any game, whether it’s Destiny-specific or otherwise, will lead to players getting their accounts banned on PC – a process that is notoriously difficult to get reversed.
Destiny 2 is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The PS4 Pro and Xbox One X upgrade patch will launch on December 5.
