2 charged with aggravated battery after deputies say they beat a man.
MARTIN COUNTY — A man was left with a shattered bone and a displaced eye after he was beaten with brass knuckles by two Martin County men, according to court documents.
Ian Turner, 23 of the 2400 block of Northeast Center Street, and Nickolas Fox, 30 of the 7800 block of Southeast Trenton Avenue, each were charged Wednesday with burglary with assault or battery, aggravated battery causing great harm and criminal mischief totaling $1,000 or more.
Turner and Fox entered Finish Line Hawgs Inc. in the 3400 block of Southeast Dixie Highway on Oct. 27 with two other people while the man they’re accused of beating was working on motorcycles, according to their affidavits.
The four people — Fox, Turner, and an unnamed woman and man — were wearing latex gloves and brass knuckles, according to Martin County sheriff’s deputies. The four began to punch the man in the head and upper torso.
When the man got away and ran outside, the group followed, but left when they mistook the sound of a passing train for the Sheriff’s Office’s helicopter, bystanders told deputies.
The man told deputies the altercation stemmed from an earlier drug buy he made to pay off his ex-wife’s drug debt. The day before, he’d met with Turner and Fox at the Treasure Coast Mall to give them $500, according to the affidavit.
When the ex-wife went to Turner’s home to get her drugs, the pair said they were going to „get“ her ex-husband, according to the report.
Turner and Fox were arrested in Jensen Beach Wednesday, according to their arrest affidavits.
Both Turner and Fox have a criminal history in Martin County. Turner was found guilty of use or possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation this year, according to court documents.
Fox was found guilty of sale, delivery or possession with the intent to sell or deliver drugs in 2014, according to court documents. In 2014, he was also found guilty of sale or delivery or cocaine within 1,000 feet of a convenience business. Other crimes he was found guilty of include multiple counts of possession of cannabis, consuming an alcoholic beverage within 500 feet of a store and violation of probation.
Turner and Fox were taken to the Martin County Jail, but both paid their $15,000 bond Wednesday and were released.
