Newly released FDNY radio audio captures the first moments when firefighters responded to the massive inferno that killed 12 people in the Bronx on Thursday night.
“People are trapped in apartment 13, we’ve got a baby in there,” says one smoke-eater in the recording.
Another adds, “We need a rush on an ambulance, we’ve got 10-45 [injury] — a child.”
It ultimately took firefighters two hours to extinguish the blaze, which ripped through the building’s stairwell, trapping people inside.
