Samsung is now rolling the latest November security patch update for the Galaxy Note 8. The update comes with fix for KRACK vulnerability.
Samsung was really good this year when it came to Security updates, but it was needed as the South-Korean Giant had to gain back the lost trust after the Note 7 disaster. Now, the good news is here for the Galaxy Note 8 users, as Samsung has started pushing a new update for the device and no, it’s not an Android Oreo update, but rather a vital Security patch, which you should install as quickly as possible.
The latest patch is the November one and fixes the most notorious exploit that’s the KRACK WiFi vulnerability; the update comes with firmware version number as N950USQS2BQK2. Moreover, it looks like it only brings the KRACK vulnerability fix and some regular bug fixes are also done.
As per the norm, these updates will arrive in phases for one region at a time so be patient and before you install it, make sure you have at least 60% plus juice left in reserve to complete the installation process without any abrupt shutdowns. If you haven’t received the OTA pop-up yet and tired of waiting you can even, install the update manually, by following this step-by-step guide on how to install an OTA file manually in your Samsung device with Odin. And for regular users, just keep checking to update manually, by heading straight over to Settings > About > System Software Updates.
Now for Andriod Oreo 8.0 is concerned you can expect it to arrive somewhere in Jan or Feb of 2018, because we have only seen Android Oreo beta testing programs for the Galaxy S8/ S8 Plus, and there’s no sign for any beta program for the Note series now. So, stay tuned for any updates on the Android Oreo update for your Galaxy Note 8.
