6 people killed in 2 crashes on Treasure Coast over the weekend

The crashes happened over less than 24 hours in Indian River and St. Lucie counties.
It was a deadly weekend on Treasure Coast roads, with two crashes claiming the lives of six people.
Friday night, three men lost their lives in the 9400 block of State Road A1A in St. Lucie County when their vehicle slid off a wet road and hit two trees, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened about 11:45 p.m.
Killed at the scene were Tyrone Wilford, 22 and Willie Lewis, 21. Eric Martin, 21, died after being transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute.
None of the men were wearing seat belts, according to the FHP.
Less than 24 hours later, three people were killed on Interstate 95 in a wrong-way collision.
The crash happened about 6:15 p.m. Saturday at mile marker 143 south of State Road 60 in Indian River County.
Geena Brown, 18, of Melbourne, was driving north when she veered across the median and into the southbound lanes, the FHP said.
Brown’s Ford Mustang was hit by a Cadillac driven by Michele Maugeri, 45, of Barefoot Bay.
The crash killed Brown and two passengers in the Cadillac, Gregorio Maugeri, 76, and Sebastiana Maugeri, 78, both of Sebastian.
Michele Maugeri was transported to Lawnwood with serious injuries.
All were wearing seat belts except for Gregorio Maugeri, according to an FHP report.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
Farther north, a man was killed by a Florida East Coast southbound train at the Barefoot Bay crossing Sunday night.
The incident occurred just north of Barefoot Bay Blvd. A male walking southbound on the tracks was struck, according to Tod Goodyear, spokesman for the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
