Xiaomi Mi A1 starts receiving Android Oreo update again

Xiaomi Mi A1 is the first smartphone from the company to receive the Android Oreo treatment.
Mi A1 became the first Xiaomi phone to receive the stable version of Android 8.0 Oreo. Naturally users were very happy, but their happiness was rather short lived. Just days after the rollout, the Android Oreo update for Xiaomi Mi A1 was pulled out. The company stopped the update temporarily due to various bugs. Well, you will be happy to know that Xiaomi has again resumed the Oreo update for the smartphone.
The new update comes with the build number OPR1.170623.026.8.1.10 and it brings along all the unique features of the latest iteration of Google’s mobile operating system. Other than that, the update also includes the Android security patch for January. In addition, the update also makes some major bug fixes. The size of the entire update is approximately around 1222MB.
However, users who has already installed the previous Oreo update will get file of about 89 MB. Xiaomi is rolling the update via OTA (over the air), so it may take a while to reach all the Mi A1 devices. One can also check for the update manually by heading to Settings > About Phone > System Updates.
As stated before, the update brings quite a few bug fixes including DND volume problem, Bluetooth battery drainage, phone freeze, wrong rapid charging message, unresponsive of Google Dialler app and more. The update also adds new gesture features for fingerprint sensor.
Xiaomi Mi A1 users who had installed the previous Oreo update reported about bugs in their devices. Many faced battery drainage issue when their handset’s Bluetooth was on. Some users also faced issues while answering a call if the phone’s display was turned off, though the phone was not locked. Besides these, apps were getting closed abruptly and ambient display was not working properly on the affected Mi A1 devices.
Soon after these problems started to surface, Xiaomi released a statement acknowledging the issues. According to the company, Mi A1 users who has MyJio app installed on their phones were the only ones affected by the bugs. In any case, it is good to see that it has worked on the problems and come up with a fix pretty soon.
