This year has been pretty exciting for us Android enthusiasts as the big manufacturers of the smartphone world are at all out war with each other. We’ve seen one great phone launch after another, and we’re sure that the rest of the year will be just as entertaining. One of the newest phones to be unveiled to the world is the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition. And to get an idea of how good this phone is, we decided to compare it to two other phones that represent the Android and Apple ecosystems quite well: the OnePlus 5T and the iPhone 6s. So without further ado, let’s go ahead and compare these three devices.
The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition is expected to be launched at the end of this month and should be priced at Rs. 33,700. Comparatively, the base version of the OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs. 32,999 and was released in November 2017. The iPhone 6s was released in September 2015, making it the oldest phone among the three. It is currently priced at Rs. 34,999 for the base variant.
The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition sports a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels. It has an aspect ratio of 19:9 and a density of 401 pixels per inch (ppi). The OnePlus 5T, on the other hand, offers a resolution of 1080×2160 on its 6.01-inch optic AMOLED screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a density of 401ppi. The iPhone 6s comes with a 4.7-inch LED-backlit LCD display and has a resolution of 750×1334 with 326ppi. The display has a traditional aspect ratio of 16:9. The Android phones offer Gorilla Glass protection whereas the iPhone 6s comes with ion-strengthened glass.
The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, whereas the OnePlus 5T is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset. The iPhone 6s, in comparison, has an Apple A9 dual-core 1.84GHz chip under the hood.
The R15 Dream Mirror Edition runs on Android 8.1 (ColorOS) whereas the OnePlus 5T offers Android 8.1 via its OxygenOS user interface (UI). The iPhone 6s features iOS, of course, and currently runs version 11.2.5.
The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition comes in a 6GB RAM 128GB internal memory configuration, whereas the OnePlus 5T base variant offers 6GB RAM paired with 64GB of onboard storage. Comparatively, the iPhone 6s offers 2GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory. While the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition allows expandable memory up to 256GB via its hybrid SIM2 slot, neither the OnePlus 5T or the iPhone 6s support adding memory cards.
The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition’s primary camera is a 16MP+20MP dual camera that features phase detection autofocus (PDAF). The OnePlus 5T too offers a dual lens array (16MP+20MP) which features electronic image stabilisation (EIS) and PDAF. The iPhone 6s comes with a 12MP f/2.2 rear camera that offers dual-LED flash and PDAF. All three phones can record 4K (2160p) videos at 30 frames per second. The iPhone 6s also lets you shoot HD slow-motion videos at 240 frames per second.
On the front, the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition features a 20MP f/2.0 selfie snapper whereas the OnePlus 5T is equipped with a 16MP f/2.0 front camera. The iPhone 6s has a 5MP f/2.2 shooter for your vanity shots.
Of the three, the iPhone 6s got outclassed by both the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition and the OnePlus 5T. And between the two Android phones, the OnePlus 5T gets a slight edge for one reason alone — its superior processor. The Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition is a great phone with a beautiful display and great camera offerings, but the OnePlus 5T, being the highly-optimised, incredibly powerful, butter-smooth phone it is, gets our vote for being the best of the two.
