„(Kim) stressed his eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible,“ a South Korean official said.
President Trump has agreed to sit down with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, as tensions with the isolated Communist regime continue to escalate, a South Korean official announced Thursday.
A member of the South Korean delegation hand-delivered a letter to Trump from Kim late Thursday, national security advisor Chung Eui-Yong said during a brief press conference at the White House.
„(Kim) stressed his eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible,“ Chung told reporters. „President Trump appreciated the briefing and said he would meet Kim Jong Un by May to achieve permanent denuclearization.“
Kim is „committed“ to scaling back his country’s nuclear weapons program and will refrain from any further missile tests, Chung added.
