Honor has introduced two new budget smartphone offerings in India today dubbed the Honor 7A and the Honor 7C. Since these devices previously launched in China a couple of months ago, we were already aware of pretty much all that these handsets had to offer. Even though both of these devices are budget offerings from the Huawei sub-brand, they come with top-tier specs such as edge-to-edge displays, facial recognition for security and a dual-camera setup at the back.
At the launch event, Honor announced the addition of India-exclusive features as part of the ‘Made for India’ initiative. These include features such as a ‘Ride Mode’, a Paytm ‘single touch access feature that uses your fingerprint, and a dedicated microSD card + dual SIM card slot. Both phones come with similar dual camera setups at the back. Just like the recently launched Honor 10, these phones also come with a ‘party mode’ that allows you to sync up to 7 smartphones to play the same music simultaneously. The phones also boast Huawei Histen’s 3D sound effects that work with headphones for a better audio listening experience.
The Honor 7A has launched in India as a Flipkart-exclusive handset, while the Honor 7C is going to be an Amazon-exclusive device. However, both smartphones are expected to also be available from the HiHonor online store. Both devices will be available in Black, Blue, and Gold colour variants.
The Flipkart-exclusive Honor 7A has launched in a single 3GB RAM+32GB storage configuration, priced at Rs. 8,999. It will go on sale from 12 pm IST on May 29.
The Amazon-exclusive Honor 7C is priced at Rs.9,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage model, while Rs. 11,999 will fetch you the 4GB RAM + 64GB internal memory variant. This handset will go on sale from 12 pm IST on May 31.
There is also a Rs.2,200 cashback offer in association with Reliance Jio which additionally offers 50GB of mobile data on the Honor 7A, while Honor 7C buyers will get 100GB of data.
The Honor 7A has a 5.7-inch IPS LCD panel with an HD+ (720×1440 pixels) resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Since there wasn’t enough space at the front due to the thin bezels, the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back. Under the hood, it runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset and will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0. The 3GB ram variant that is launching in this country sports a dual-camera 13MP + 2MP setup at the back with phase detection auto-focus and LED flash. The front camera is an 8MP sensor that also comes with an LED flash for better low-light selfies and features Face unlock for security. Bokeh and Beauty mode software enhancements. Powering this device is a modest 3000mAh battery.
The Honor 7C also has an IPS LCD HD+ (720×1440 pixels) resolution display, but this one measures 5.99-inches across. The rest of the internal spec list is quite similar here with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC powering the device. It gets Android 8.0 Oreo as well with EMUI 8.0 skin baked on top. The fingerprint scanner is at the back. The 3MP+2MP dual camera setup at the rear with an autofocus lens is also found here, but this time it comes with a f/2.2 aperture. The front camera is again an 8MP shooter with ‘soft selfie tuning light’ and face-unlock capabilities. A similar 3000mAh battery completes the package.
