Bandai Namco’s action role-playing game Code Vein won’t make its previously scheduled September release date. The game has been delayed to 2019, the publisher announced today.
Code Vein was pushed to next year to “further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title,” said Eric Hartness, vice president of marketing for Bandai Namco Entertainment America, in a news release. On Twitter, the company said the decision to delay the game was “based on all the feedback we have received over the last few months,” namely at events like E3 and Anime Expo in Los Angeles.
Code Vein was first revealed in April 2017. The game draws inspiration from the Dark Souls franchise, which is also published by Bandai Namco, and features vampire-like player characters known as the Vein. Using super powers known as Gifts, players fight an infestation of demonic creatures known as the Lost in a post-apocalyptic, anime-styled world with the help of AI-controlled partners.
