Samsung bills the Galaxy Tab S4 as an Android 8.1 Oreo tablet that can transform into a PC-like device when needed.
But Samsung is striking back with a vengeance, giving the Galaxy Tab S4 a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (last year’s flagship phone chip of choice) and a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560×1600 (287 ppi). Display bezels are also slimmer this time around and the home button has been completely removed. The tablet includes quad speakers with AKG and Dolby Atmos support, and an S Pen is included. There are also two 13MP cameras included; one on the front, and one on the back.
Samsung has equipped the tablet with 4GB of memory, and you can select from either 64GB or 256GB of internal storage. No matter which storage SKU you select, you receive a microSD slot to further expand your capacity. A Cat 16 LTE modem is an available option for on-the-go connectivity, and you’ll find requisite support for Bluetooth 5.0 and 802.11ac MIMO Wi-Fi. Samsung says that the Galaxy Tab S4 features an integrated 7300 mAh battery (fast charge supported) with runtimes of up to 16 hours.

This is made possible due to the fact that Samsung is bringing the DeX experience to its tablet family for the first time. Placing the Galaxy Tab S4 into the optional Book Cover Keyboard gives you the freedom to invoke a more desktop-like user experience complete with multi-window app layouts and the ability to drag-and-drop files and images between apps.
An optional HDMI to USB-C dock allow you to hook up the tablet to an external monitor (also leveraging DeX) to increase your productivity. In addition, when connected to a monitor, you can use the Galaxy Tab S4’s display as either a trackpad or sketchpad.
Preorders for the Galaxy Tab S4 open today (shipping August 10 th) with the 64GB and 256GB SKUs priced at $650 and $750 respectively.
