BT will cut Huawei out of the „control plane“ of its networks, but will still use its equipment for telephone masts and other „benign“ infrastructure.
BT will no longer use Huawei equipment in its 4G network, in order to keep in line with an internal policy that requires the Chinese company’s technology at the edges of its infrastructure.
This means that, within two years, BT will cut Huawei out of the „control plane“ of its networks. These network cores contain personal customer information and records of customers‘ activities.
Moreover, BT has also stopped Huawei from bidding for contracts to supply equipment to build its core 5G network.
