Kanye West continued to perfect one of his greatest talents on Thursday—no, not making music, but furiously tweeting his displeasure at other rappers who dare to prod him or use his name for attention. This time, West set his sights on Drake, reigniting their on-again, off-again feud for the umpteenth time.
West blasted his former collaborator-turned-nemesis in glorious fashion, unloading dozens of tweets over the course of the day. They’re too numerous to list here, but highlights include:
These unhinged Twitter rants have become par for the course for West, as the social media platform has given him ample opportunity to shove his foot in his mouth. But West’s latest diatribe, while heated and occasionally meandering, felt justified given the year he’s had. The reignited feud comes at a precarious time in both artists‘ careers, as they prepare to end a tumultuous 2018 and figure out how to navigate the upcoming year.
There has been no shortage of words dedicated to West’s public outbursts this year, so I won’t expound upon them here. I have no interest in making armchair diagnoses, but based on his Twitter sprees and controversial interviews, it seems clear that West has been working through something heavy.
