This Is Passion, the 86th Opening Night Gala was one beautiful affair on and off the stage.
Outside of religious texts, few characters have truly fascinated the world’s for centuries. The shadow of Don Quixote towers above all like a windmill over his beloved Spanish countryside. Once seen as a melancholy lovelorn fool, he had persevered in his quest to become a symbol of unwavering commitment to higher ideals. There just couldn’t be a better production choice for the launch of the 2019 Repertory Season at the San Francisco Ballet.

Aptly titled This Is Passion, the 86th Opening Night Gala was full of beautiful dramatism on and off the stage. Held at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House and chaired by Claire Stewart Kostic, the always eagerly anticipated gala pulled who-is-who of the city’s social circles under the iconic City Hall roof for a fundraising dinner and a lavish afterparty.

A true emotional highlight of the evening was a tribute to the fabulous spirit of Dede Wilsey, a lifelong passionate supporter of the humanities in San Francisco.
