Protests in Detroit following the death of George Floyd continued for a 13th day Wednesday despite rainstorms that rolled through during part of the march through downtown Detroit.
The demonstration came the same day that Floyd’s brother addressed lawmakers on Capitol Hill. Floyd died two weeks ago in Minneapolis after a police officer kneeled on his neck.
Hundreds have been gathering each night to protest police violence against African-Americans. An 8 p.m. curfew was lifted because protests in Detroit have been peaceful.

Marchers are back at Detroit Police headquarters after about a 35-minute march, which is shorter than usual, because of predicted storms. The march was peaceful, as it has been for many days.
„Even though our numbers today were shorter … we were mighty,“ organizer Nakia-Renne Wallace tells protesters.
She reiterates that the leaders of Detroit Will Breathe will not be out Thursday or Friday so they can write reports and better organize, but will return at 4 p.m. Saturday. However, those who wish to come at 4 p.m. those two days may continue to do so, she says.
Wallace reminds the crowd of a Detroit Public Schools march at 11 a.m. Thursday, where there will be a By Any Means Necessary contingent. The group doesn’t want schools to reopen in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic until there is running water in the buildings and class sizes are small, she tells the crowd.
„I’m so proud of ya’ll,“ Wallace tells marchers, who applaud. „There’s love in these streets.
