An area of low pressure that moved across Florida Monday and brought rain to much of the state over the past several days has potential to be the next named tropical system.
Whether it becomes Tropical Storm Fay depends on whether it moves north over land or whether it gets to open water.
The system currently is located inland over central Georgia and it continues to produce a large area of showers and thunderstorms over portions of the southeastern U. S., according to the National Hurricane Center.

This system is expected to move generally northeast toward the coast of the Carolinas and the mid-Atlantic states later this week.
