Tens of millions of new COVID-19 rapid tests will be made available for the nation’s teachers and students as schools begin to reopen across the country, President Trump announced Monday. “The support my administration is providing will allow every state to, on a very regular basis, test every teacher who needs it,” Trump said at a ceremony in the White House Rose Garden. In coming weeks, more than 150 million new swabs from Abbott Laboratories will be sent to vulnerable communities, nursing homes and state governments, he said. “This will be more than double the number of tests already performed,” the commander in chief said, announcing more than 111 million tests have been performed since the virus arrived on US shores earlier this year.
