The organizers of a Chinese ultramarathon have come under scrutiny after extreme weather killed nearly two-dozen people during an ultramarathon in northwest China’s rugged mountain terrain, including two of China’s best long-distance runners. „As the organiser of the event, we are full of guilt and remorse. We express deep condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and the injured,” Baiyin City mayor Zhang Xuchen said at a press conference Sunday.
