Orange County had 15 patients in ICUs with coronavirus as of Saturday.
The OC Health Care Agency reported 55 new cases of the coronavirus on Saturday, May 15, increasing the cumulative total in the county to 254,692 cases since tracking began. In Friday’s report, the county noted a backlog of cases from several weeks was adding to the total and had 145 new cases listed. The issue has been resolved. There were 703 new infections reported in the last 14 days. That is down from a 14-day average of 891 cases two weeks ago. Two deaths were reported Saturday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities to 5,030. The data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or gathered through the course of case investigations and can take weeks to process.
