A new and powerful 6.4 earthquake and a second measuring 5.8 struck the Turkey-Syria border region on Monday in Turkey’s Hatay province, on the Mediterranean Sea. The quake hit the town of Defne at 8:04pm (17:04 GMT) and was strongly felt in the cities of Antakya and Adana. The tremors were strong and lasting. It was felt in Syria, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon and Egypt. People fled into the streets in several Turkish and Syrian cities.
