Microsoft has unveiled a new Teams app for Windows, with the company claiming the application is up to two times faster, simpler, more flexible and smarter than its predecessor. Built for speed, performance, flexibility and intelligence, the application takes up 50% less memory than before, the tech company announced. The Windows app is also designed to provide a foundation for AI-powered experiences and is part of Microsoft’s larger plan to enhance the user experience of Teams.
Microsoft brought the AI-powered Copilot for Teams earlier this month to assist users in running more effective meetings. To further enhance the user experience while using the app, the company has now announced a new Teams app for Windows. It said that the new Microsoft Teams is faster, simpler, more flexible and smarter.“The new app is built on a foundation of speed, performance, flexibility, and intelligence — delivering up to two times faster performance while using 50% less memory so you can save time and collaborate more efficiently,” the company said in a blog post.It added that the streamlined app will be simpler to use and these enhancements will also provide the foundation for AI-powered experiences.Microsoft Teams availabilityMicrosoft said that it is targeting the general availability of new Teams later this year in 2023. “We intend to extend the preview release to a broader set of customers, including those using Macs later this year,” the company said.
