One thing in common for the group, we are there because we like to sing.
It amazes me to see how fast time moves or as they say, flies. In May, I will have grandchild number three graduating from high school. For me, it does not seem that long ago I was watching her play little league soccer over at Doanes Park here in Pleasant Hill. Next year, grandchild number one graduates from the University of Northern Iowa. Where did the time go?
Going back more than a few years to 2016, I realize that I have been part of the Heartland Singers Community Chorus group for seven years. A posting in the local paper said the group was looking for singers, so I went.
It does not seem that long ago when I had my first practice with the group. With no formal chorus training in my background, the group has provided me with a great challenge to learn new things such as singing the tenor line versus the melody. I never realized the tenor line could have so many high notes. Occasionally, I think it would be attractive to drop down to the lower base line. That could be a challenge also since there are some very low notes for the basses.
