What are the differences between the iPhone 15 Pro and the regular iPhone 15 models? And should you spend more to get the Pro version? We compare the performance, the camera quality, battery life and more.
Should you go with the iPhone 15 Pro or save some money and get the regular iPhone 15 model instead? The new iPhone 15 series is coming out in September, but with rampant leaks and insightful analyst reports, we now have a nearly complete picture of what the new phones will look like. The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 will share roughly the same, compact-ish 6.1-inch size, with the main differences being the newer and faster A17 Bionic chip on the Pro model. The Pro model also has 120Hz ProMotion for buttery smooth scrolling, a feature still missing on the vanilla 15 model, and with the Pro you get a better camera system, especially when it comes to zooming. Add a fancy new titanium material that should make the Pro version more durable, and a few more tips and tricks.
Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 come with a 6.1-inch screen size, which makes these phones quite compact in comparison to the Pro Maxes and Ultra phones of the world. But while the screen sizes are the same on the two, the actual physical size of the phones is expected to differ slightly since the 15 Pro has slimmer bezels and this helps make it a tiny bit narrower. But probably the most noticeable difference will remain the heavier weight of the 15 Pro compared to the vanilla model. In terms of materials, the 15 Pro is said to get a new titanium frame, a change from the stainless steel that Apple has been using on previous Pro models, This titanium finish is more damage resistant, plus it weighs considerably less than stainless steel (but because of added cameras, the iPhone 15 will weigh less still). The regular iPhone 15 model, on the other hand, will use the familiar aluminum frame.Another difference is that the back glass on the Pro model should have a frosted finish, while the regular iPhone 15 will have a glossy glass back. The iPhone 15 Pro will also get a new Action Button in place of the mute switch. This new button will be programmable so you can set it to do whatever you like, including still acting as a mute button. The iPhone 15 is expected to stick with the mute switch. On the bottom, both phones will have a USB-C port, a change from the Lightning port that Apple has been using for years. That’s good news as this is the same cable most other electronics use as well. Both phones come with IP68 water and dust certification. When it comes to the screens, both use a 6.1″ OLED panel and we don’t expect to see any significant difference in the color balance and overall quality of the image.
