The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Sunday that it has monitored eight Chinese vessels during its maritime security and patrol operations in Bajo de Masinloc, also known as Scarborough Shoal.
PCG’s operation stemmed from a directive from Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan ordering the deployment of BRP Teresa Magbanua (MRRV-9701) to Bajo de Masinloc last February 1 to ensure the safety of Filipino fishermen within the country’s exclusive economic zone.
