NEW DELHI: Apple recently rolled out the iOS 11.3 update and the iPhone users have already started complaining about it. As reported by many, the new iOS 11.3 update is killing the touch functionality on the iPhone 8 models.
The iPhone 8 models with third party displays are affected by this. Users have reported that their smartphone screen is no longer registering the touch inputs. Without the touchscreen functionality the smartphone is of no use. Many a times, iPhone users go to third party shops in order to get the damage repaired. The third party vendors repair the smartphones at lesser cost. But, with this update, their smartphones are no longer functional.
This is not the first time that something like this has happened after an iOS update. Last year, the 11.0.3 iOS update fixed the third party display problem which occured by a previous update.
It is assumed that this display issue is caused by a microchip which operates the touch display. The third party repair shops find out a cheaper way and fix the display, however, replacing the chip can solve this problem completely.
Recently, Apple launched the Product Red Special Edition of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones. Both smartphones are available in 64GB and 256GB models starting at Rs 67,940. The first wave of countries will get it starting tomorrow (April 10). India will get these ‘new’ smartphones by May this year.
Apple has also introduced new Product Red iPhone X Leather Folio for Rs 7,900. The company said that those buying the special edition iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be offered free Personal Setup at Apple Stores as well as online to help them customize their devices.
