Bei einem Terroranschlag auf ein jüdisches Fest am berühmten Bondi Beach in der australischen Metropole Sydney haben Angreifer offiziellen Angaben zufolge zwölf Menschen getötet und fast 30 Personen seien verletzt.
Terrorismusexperte Hans-Jakob Schindler geht wie die australische Regierung von einem antisemitisch motivierten Anschlag aus. Mit Blick auf den derzeitigen Ermittlungsstand sei allerdings noch unklar, welchem Milieu man die Täter zurechnen könne.
„Seit dem pogromartigen Angriff der Hamas am 7. Oktober 2023 haben sich neue Allianzen zwischen Islamisten, Linksextremisten und Rechtsextremisten gebildet“, sagte der Senior Direktor des internationalen Counter Extremism Project im Gespräch mit dem Tagesspiegel.
In den vergangenen beiden Jahren hätten alle großen Terrororganisationen versucht, den Konflikt im Nahen Osten für ihre Zwecke zu nutzen, Menschen zu radikalisieren und zu Gewalt aufzurufen.
Schindler zufolge spricht das professionelle Vorgehen der Attentäter dafür, dass sie einer Terrorzelle angehören. „Soweit bisher bekannt, waren die Schützen gut vorbereitet, haben aus mehreren Richtungen auf die Teilnehmer der Chanukka-Veranstaltung geschossen und eine Brücke als einen zentralen Punkt genutzt, um das Feuer zu eröffnen.“ Vermutlich auch in dem Wissen, dass Strände nach allen Seiten offen sind, also sehr schwierig zu schützen seien.

Der Extremismusforscher vermutet zudem, dass die Angreifer im Umgang mit Waffen erfahren gewesen sind. „Videos des Anschlages, die von der britischen BBC und im Internet verbreitet werden, scheinen zu zeigen, dass die Täter relativ ruhig und methodisch vorgegangen sind.“
Ein mutmaßlicher Schütze sei getötet worden, ein weiterer befinde sich in kritischem Zustand, sagte der Polizeichef von New South Wales, Mal Lanyon, am Sonntagabend (Ortszeit).
Die Behörden untersuchen zudem, ob ein dritter Schütze beteiligt war. Ein Bombenräumkommando sei wegen mehrerer mutmaßlicher Sprengsätze im Einsatz.
Schindler geht zudem von einem hohen Aufwand bei der Vorbereitung des Anschlags aus. So hätten womöglich Kontakte ins kriminelle Milieu den Angreifern ermöglicht, sich überhaupt Waffen zu besorgen. Denn Australien habe schon vor 30 Jahren nach einer Schießerei mit 35 Toten strenge Gesetze eingeführt.
Der Anschlag ist der blutigste in Australien seit 1996 und der Höhepunkt einer Reihe antisemitischer Angriffe seit Beginn des Gaza-Krieges im Oktober 2023. (mit Agenturen)

W zamachu terrorystycznym na plaży Bondi w Sydney zginęło w niedzielę co najmniej 11 osób oraz jeden z napastników. Atak nastąpił, kiedy zebrani na plaży australijscy Żydzi przystąpili do zapalania chanukowej świecy. Do szpitali przewieziono 29 osób. Jeden ze sprawców poniósł śmierć, drugi został zatrzymany.
W sieci pojawiło się nagranie mężczyzny, który wykazał się niezwykłym bohaterstwem. Zakradł się od tyłu do jednego z napastników i po krótkiej walce wyrwał mu broń z rąk. Następnie wziął na cel agresora, który zaczął się wycofywać w kierunku swojego kompana.
Komisarz policji stanu Nowa Południowa Walii, Mal Lanyon, przekazał podczas konferencji prasowej, że napastnicy użyli broni długiej. Dodał, że policja odnalazła pojazd, w którym prawdopodobnie znajduje się kilka improwizowanych ładunków wybuchowych. Podobne urządzenie jest też pod kładką, z której strzelali napastnicy. Jednostki pirotechników dotarły już na miejsce zdarzenia.

Josh Allen threw three touchdown passes, and James Cook ran for two TDs and caught another as the Buffalo Bills rallied from a 21-0 deficit to beat New England 35-31 on Sunday, preventing the Patriots from clinching the AFC East title.
Allen finished 19 of 28 for 193 yards. Cook ran 22 times for 107 yards for the Bills (10-4), who avoided being swept by a division opponent for the first time since 2019. Buffalo reached 10 wins for the seventh consecutive season.
The Bills overcame a double-digit deficit for the third time this year after previously rallying against Baltimore (down 15 points in the fourth quarter) and Cincinnati (down 10).
The Patriots (11-3) lost their first division game of the season and their 10-game win streak ended. They haven’t won the AFC East since 2019 but still lead the Bills by one game with three games left.
Drake Maye had a pair of touchdown runs, and TreVeyon Henderson ran for scores of 52 and 65 yards. Henderson finished with 14 carries for 148 yards.
Trailing 35-31 with 2:43 to play, the Patriots had fourth-and-5 on their own 22. Maye was flushed out of the pocket and had a pass batted down by Joey Bosa.
The Bills ran out the clock from there.
With light snow falling, the temperature at kickoff was 32 degrees Fahrenheit (0 degrees Celsius). The conditions didn’t slow down a Patriots offense that scored on four of its first five possessions to take a 24-7 lead into halftime.
Buffalo punted on all but one of its first-half possessions. But it marched down the field on the first drive of the third quarter, getting a 58-yard kickoff return by Ray Davis and a 20-yard run by Allen to set up Allen’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Dawson Knox.
After a three-and-out by New England, the Bills needed just over five minutes and 11 plays to cap a 70-yard drive with Cook’s 3-yard TD run.
Maye had a deep pass intercepted by Tre’Davious White on the Patriots’ next drive. The Bills took over on the New England 9 and drove across midfield, where they faced fourth down on the Patriots 45.
Allen kept the drive alive, completing a 37-yard pass to Dalton Kincaid. He then found Knox for a 14-yard TD to put the Bills in front 27-24.
That lead lasted just 14 seconds. On New England’s next offensive play, Henderson scampered down the sideline for a 65-yard score.
The Bills struck right back, capping a seven-play, 65-yard drive with Cook’s 11-yard touchdown run that made it 35-31 with 6:48 remaining.
Bosa returned for Buffalo after a one-game absence with hamstring and wrist injuries. The Bills played without linebacker Terrel Benford (elbow) for the third straight game, as well top cornerback Christian Benford (toe).
Their absences were evident as the Patriots moved the ball at ease early. Maye used a 30-yard pass to Kayshon Boutte to set up his own 8-yard touchdown that capped an eight-play, 73-yard opening drive.
Maye’s 7-yard scramble for a touchdown put the Patriots up 14-0.
Knox’s TD catch was the 25th of his career, tying Pete Metzelaars for the most by a tight end in Bills history.
The Patriots held a moment of silence for the victims of a mass shooting at Brown University on Saturday that killed two students and wounded nine others. The Ivy League school in Providence, Rhode Island, is located about 20 miles south of Foxborough.
Bills: DT Jordan Phillips walked off on his own power in the second quarter with an ankle injury.
Patriots: CB Carlton Davis III left in the third quarter with a groin injury but returned.
Bills: Visit Cleveland next Sunday.

И поверьте, мы много всего сделали для того, чтобы эти стороны все вместе встречались. И сегодня эти встречи в Берлине, сегодня и завтра. Может ли это изменить безопасную ситуацию на земле? Безусловно, потому что мы рассматриваем 20-пунктный рамочный план, в конце которого речь идет о прекращении огня. Прекращение огня изменит, безусловно, ситуацию безопасности на земле“, – отметил Зеленский.
Также он ответил на вопрос о том, не изменилась ли позиция Киева по территориальным вопросам и гарантиям безопасности.
„Неизменна ли наша позиция? Смотрите: мы сегодня говорим не о честности, а о силе. И, к сожалению, это время требует уважения исключительно к силе, а не к ценностям. Потому что, если говорить о честности и ценностях, об уважении к международному праву, россияне должны были бы быть осуждены, и с самого начала, еще более 10 лет назад, за вторжение на суверенную землю Украины“, – подчеркнул президент.
Зеленский отметил, что тогда это не произошло, это было только на словах. Поэтому сегодня Украина хочет неповторения войны после прекращения огня.
„И поэтому юридически обязывающие гарантии обязательны. Не Будапештский меморандум, а юридически обязывающие гарантии. В случае с США мы такие консультации и проводим. Когда они говорят, что у нас будет что-то зеркальное 5 ст. НАТО, то мы понимаем, как США в случае повторной агрессии России должны реагировать. И это – еще раз подчеркну – для нас важно, чтобы было поддержано Конгрессом США“, – подчеркнул Зеленский.

Bei einem Terrorangriff in Sydney sind mindestens zwölf Menschen getötet worden. Die Behörden gehen von einem antisemitischen Motiv aus. Weltweit sorgt die Tat für Entsetzen und Anteilnahme. Israels Präsident Izchak Herzog sprach angesichts der am Strand abgehaltenen Chanukkafeier von einem „grausamen Angriff auf Juden“. Er rief die australischen Behörden dazu auf, mehr gegen Antisemitismus zu tun.
Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz (CDU) drückte auf X seine Anteilnahme aus und sprach von einem „Angriff auf unsere gemeinsamen Werte“. Mehrere Regierungsmitglieder, darunter Bildungsministerin Karin Prien und Außenminister Johann Wadephul (beide CDU), reagierten ebenfalls bestürzt auf den Angriff. Wadephul zeigte sich „zutiefst erschüttert über den Terroranschlag in Sydney“. Der Angriff sei „ein Akt des Hasses, der sich am ersten Tag von Chanukka gegen alle Jüdinnen und Juden weltweit richtet“, schrieb er auf X. „Meine Gedanken sind bei den Familien der Ermordeten, den Verletzten und der jüdischen Gemeinde“, fügte er hinzu.
Kampf gegen Antisemitismus
Der Antisemitismusbeauftragte der Bundesregierung, Felix Klein, rief zu entschlossenem Schutz von Jüdinnen und Juden auf. „Dass jüdisches Leben und jüdische Festtage immer wieder zum Ziel von Terror werden, ist unerträglich“, sagte Klein dem Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND). Staat und Gesellschaft dürften dies ebenso wenig hinnehmen wie die Ursache – den Antisemitismus. „Wir müssen jüdisches Leben schützen.“ Auch in Deutschland bestehe weiterhin eine abstrakt erhebliche Gefährdungslage für jüdische Einrichtungen, sagte Klein. Die Sicherheitsbehörden seien jedoch gut aufgestellt, zudem gebe es derzeit keine konkreten Hinweise auf Anschläge.
Der Zentralrat der Juden rief zur Solidarität auf. „We stand with Sydney“ („Wir stehen hinter Sydney“), hieß es in sozialen Medien neben einem Bild mit einer brennenden Kerze. Volker Beck, Präsident der Deutsch-Israelischen Gesellschaft, reagierte schockiert auf den Anschlag und verwies darauf, dass auch in der Bundesrepublik der Judenhass zugenommen habe. „Der Schutz jüdischen Lebens sowie der Kampf gegen Terrorismus und Antisemitismus müssen auch in Deutschland zu einer zentralen politischen Priorität werden“, forderte Beck.
Der deutsche Botschafter in Israel, Steffen Seibert, schrieb auf X, er sei „entsetzt und traurig über den Terrorangriff“ auf die Chanukkafeier in Sydney – „eine verwerfliche Tat des Hasses, die durch nichts auf der Welt gerechtfertigt werden kann.“
Ursula von der Leyen, Präsidentin der Europäischen Kommission, sagte: „Europa steht an der Seite von Australien und allen jüdischen Gemeinden.“ Die Vizepräsidentin Kaja Kallas sprach von einem „entsetzlichen Gewaltakt“, der unmissverständlich verurteilt werden müsse.
Großbritanniens Premierminister Keir Starmer schickte auf X Beileidsbekundungen nach Australien. Kurz zuvor hatte er noch selbst zum Beginn des Chanukkafests gute Wünsche gesendet. Der französische Präsident Emmanuel Macron kündigte an, „unerbittlich gegen antisemitischen Hass“ zu kämpfen. Indiens Premier Narendra Modi schrieb von einem „schrecklichen Terroranschlag“, den er „aufs Schärfste verurteile“.
Auch UN-Generalsekretär António Guterres zeigte sich auf X entsetzt über den tödlichen Anschlag in Sydney. Er verurteile diese „abscheuliche Attacke“, schrieb Guterres. „Mein Herz ist bei der jüdischen Gemeinschaft auf der ganzen Welt an diesem ersten Tag von Chanukka, ein Fest, das das Wunder des Friedens und das Licht, das die Dunkelheit besiegt, feiert.“
Wenige Stunden nach der Tat äußerte sich der israelische Regierungschef Benjamin Netanjahu und wies laut der Zeitung Times of Israel darauf hin, dass er im August einen Brief an den australischen Premierminister Anthony Albanese geschickt habe, in dem er Canberra vorwirft, „Öl ins Feuer des Antisemitismus zu gießen“. Netanjahu paraphrasierte demnach seinen Brief und sagte, dass Albaneses Politik, zu der auch die Anerkennung eines palästinensischen Staates gehört, „den Judenhass fördert, der derzeit Ihre Straßen heimsucht.“ Antisemitismus sei wie Krebs; er breite sich aus, wenn Politiker schwiegen. „Sie müssen Schwäche durch Taten ersetzen“, forderte Netanjahu.

Unfortunately, it lacks HDR support and the „Fast app launch“ feature, which you get with other Roku streamers. Although Roku doesn’t explain what „Fast app launch“ means, it likely refers to under-the-hood improvements that help speed up app launches.

Given the massive rise in child predation enabled by social media, that’s a huge responsibility — and one Wizz has fallen way short of. Though it’s meant to connect kids with others their age, in reality it’s become a mechanism for predators to meet underaged victims.
In noted by The Hill, Wizz has been implicating in a predictably stunning number of child sexual abuse incidents. Though the app claims to use “sophisticated AI safety algorithms for age verification” in order to sort users by age, real world examples show these safeguards aren’t enough to deter child predators.
In Hawai’i, for example, an 11-year-old girl who had been sexually assaulted by an active-duty US Marine told police they had first met on Wizz. Despite the app’s “ironclad policies,” the 19-year-old perpetrator had allegedly posed as a 15-year-old, which the AI safety algorithm had failed to catch.
Other examples abound, like a 23-year-old pretending to be 14 in order to sexually assault an actual 14-year-old, or a 27-year-old claiming to be 16 in order to rape multiple underage girls. After receiving pushback from the company, The Hill even tested the verification system with a 28-year-old staffer, who was able to register an account as a 16-year-old.
The app has come under increasing scrutiny from both the media and consumer watchdogs, which have helped put pressure on platforms like the Google Play and Apple App Store to remove it entirely. Though those efforts were temporarily successful, Wizz was able to worm its way back in, touting new and improved safety measures.
Now, however, Congressional Republicans and Democrats are reaching across the aisle to push for the Kids Online Safety Act. If successful, the bill would establish a “Duty of Care” for online platforms to prove themselves to US regulators in order to avoid legal liability for harm, similar to the process auto manufacturers are supposed to follow to put out a new car.
