Archer.

Fund balance reaches $1.3 million within MINUTES of start
Commentator Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel have announced, online, that they have launched a fund to help the family of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist assassinated this week during a free speech event at a Utah school
“We met Charlie Kirk when he was 18, through our friend Foster Friess, and have known him well since. He was an amazing person. It’s hard to find the right words in a moment like this or to understand exactly what’s happened.
“But in the meantime we want to do everything we can for Charlie’s widow Erika and their two small children. We’ve set up a GiveSendGo page on their behalf and are seeding it with $1 million from Alp Pouch.

49ers' Brock Purdy a 'long shot' to play in Week 2, coach says

0

Array
As the San Francisco 49ers began preparation Wednesday for their Week 2 meeting with the New Orleans Saints, they did so with the expectation that quarterback Brock Purdy won’t be available to play.
Purdy is dealing with toe and left shoulder injuries that happened in the second quarter of Sunday’s win against the Seattle Seahawks. Coach Kyle Shanahan has indicated that the toe is the bigger concern and said Wednesday that it’s unlikely Purdy will play against the Saints.
„I think it’s a long shot“, Shanahan said.
Asked whether Purdy might miss multiple games as he recovers from the ailments, Shanahan didn’t rule it out.
„It’s possible“, Shanahan said.
General manager John Lynch told the team’s flagship radio station KNBR on Thursday that Purdy is considered „week-to-week“, a designation the team reached after consulting with team trainers and doctors, along with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson.
„What we’re dealing with is kind of a week-to-week thing“, Lynch said. „That’s our information. Brock’s doing well, coming back from it. We’ll just treat it as such. He’s doing a nice job, doing everything he can to get back out there as soon as possible. That’s where we’re at.“
Purdy’s addition to the injury report came as a bit of a surprise Monday after he finished the game against Seattle by leading the winning touchdown drive and wasn’t mentioned by Shanahan in the postgame injury report. Purdy was 26-of-35 for 277 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Shanahan said Purdy injured the toe while scrambling for 7 yards with about two minutes left in the first half. On the play, Purdy took off to his left and was tackled as he fell toward the sideline by Seahawks safety Julian Love.
Purdy didn’t show any signs of being seriously hurt, though Shanahan said he was aware of what the quarterback was dealing with during the game.
On Wednesday, Purdy was listed as a nonparticipant in practice, leaving Mac Jones to handle the starting quarterback duties. Jones signed as a free agent from the Jacksonville Jaguars in March and is coming off a solid training camp in which he impressed teammates with his consistent production.
„I like Mac a lot“, defensive end Nick Bosa said. „Getting to know him this camp, and I think he’s really popped on tape throughout camp. If Mac does start, I think it’s a little more advantageous for him being earlier in the year since he’s gotten some real reps recently and he’s not 10 weeks into the season taking only scout team (snaps), getting pinballed around by the D-line and scout team. I think that’s a bright side.“
According to Shanahan, the 49ers would like to bring in another quarterback to provide depth behind Jones if Purdy can’t play. The Niners have Adrian Martinez on the practice squad and tried out veteran signal-caller Mike White on Wednesday.
The hurdle for San Francisco is the number of injuries it’s dealing with elsewhere that make any roster moves more difficult to pull off.
„We’d like to (add another quarterback)“, Shanahan said. „We just don’t know if we can.“
Beyond Purdy, the Niners have plenty of other moving parts this week. Running back Christian McCaffrey (calf/veteran rest day), left tackle Trent Williams (knee/vet day), Bosa (vet day), defensive lineman Yetur Gross-Matos (knee) and wide receiver Jauan Jennings (shoulder) also did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Jennings‘ situation might be the most tenuous of those players after he departed Sunday’s game with the shoulder issue and did not return. Testing and imaging on Jennings‘ injured shoulder didn’t reveal any significant damage, though, and Shanahan said there is still hope he will be able to play against the Saints.
„He’s got a chance to play, and hopefully he will“, Shanahan said.

Israel's failed operation in Doha alarms Gulf states, deepens fears

0

Israel’s failed attempt to kill Hamas‘ political leadership in unprecedented air strikes on Qatari capital Doha will further complicate the Gaza negotiations.
BEIRUT, Lebanon, Sept. 11 Israel’s failed attempt to kill Hamas‘ political leadership in unprecedented air strikes on the Qatari capital, Doha, will further complicate the Gaza negotiations and harden the Palestinian militant group’s position, Hamas and analysts said.
The action also could put the Abraham Accords at risk and undermine Gulf countries‘ trust in the United States as a reliable ally and security guarantor, they said.
The attack, whether carried out with or without Washington’s approval or knowledge, has moreover heightened fears among the oil-rich Gulf states about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s „Greater Israel“ mission and his broader plan to reshape the Middle East — a strategy that further threatens peace and stability in the region.
The Hamas negotiating delegation was meeting in Doha to discuss U.S. President Donald Trump’s new proposal to end the nearly 23-month war in Gaza when Israeli fighter jets and drones struck residential buildings that housed several members of the Hamas Politburo on Tuesday.
Hamas said its negotiators survived the assassination attempts, but five members of the group and one Qatari security official were killed.
Israel initially believed that most of the senior Hamas officials targeted in the strike had died, but soon admitted that the chances of success had significantly diminished.
Regardless of the outcome, the Doha strike was „unprecedented“, as it also constituted an attack on the sovereignty of a country that was mediating and hosting parties to the conflict, according to Riad Kahwaji, who heads the Dubai-based Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis.
„You don’t kill the negotiator — and you definitely don’t violate the sovereignty of the country hosting the negotiations. That’s a serious flaw“, Kahwaji told UPI. „It is wrong on so many levels, and it carries serious implications, both now and in the future.“
He said Netanyahu is „completely out of control“ in how he has been handling the Gaza war, his plans to annex the West Bank and now the attack on Doha — which Qatari officials, angry and feeling betrayed, described using strong terms such as „aggression“, „barbaric“, and „state terror.“ The officials went further, labeling Israel itself a „rogue state.“
Despite being Washington’s major non-NATO ally and hosting al-Udeid — the largest U.S. airbase in the Middle East, with around 11,000 American military personnel — Qatar was not immune to Israel’s reckless and uncontrolled actions.
The United States‘ „very vague and last-minute“ warning of the strike was of no use to Doha, since it came too late — after the strikes had already begun, raising serious questions about U.S. security guarantees.
„This perceived betrayal, regardless of whether it was intentional or a failure of communication, has raised serious alarms“, said Kristian P. Alexander, a senior fellow and lead researcher at UAE’s Rabdan Security and Defense Institute. „It suggests that the U.S. may not be a reliable partner when its interests in backing Israel clash with its commitments to its Gulf allies.“
Alexander said the U.S. has maintained a massive military presence in the Gulf to deter Iran, but the Israeli attack on Doha raises the possibility that „the next threat to their [Gulf states‘] security could come from a supposed U.S. ally.“
„It exposes the U.S.’s delicate balancing act in the Middle East, caught between its unconditional support for Israel and its critical strategic partnerships with countries like Qatar“, he told UPI.
However, the damage is already done. The attack has undermined U.S. credibility, and its role as a security guarantor to the countries of the region „has been tarnished — maybe forever“, Kahwaji said.
The Gulf states, long seen as a „safe haven“ insulated from the violence of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, are now forced to confront a new reality.
Alexander said the Doha strike shattered this „safe haven illusion“ and demonstrated that these countries are no longer immune and their sovereignty is no longer „a guaranteed shield“ against military action.
By advancing a vision of „Greater Israel“, Netanyahu is „confirming their worst fears“, he said, arguing that „this will likely push them to move away from normalization and towards a more cautious, and at times confrontational, stance.“
The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan immediately and strongly rallied behind Qatar, which decided to pursue legal avenues and diplomatic channels to hold Israel internationally accountable for the strike.
More support and joint actions are anticipated at a two-day summit of Arab and Muslim leaders in Doha on Sunday, as they seek to respond to a regional security crisis that has now arrived at their doorstep.
The Gulf leaders, Alexander said, are likely to respond with „a multi-pronged strategy“ that balances their condemnation of Israel with their own long-term strategic interests. They would possibly coordinate a common approach to pressuring Israel and the international community.
The first move came from the UAE, which reportedly informed Israel that its defense industries will not be able to participate in a defense conference scheduled for Dubai next month, according to the Israeli news outlet Ynet-English.
Moreover, the Abraham Accords, which led to normalization agreements between Israel and the UAE, Sudan, Bahrain and Morocco, are now at risk. The attack will make it much harder for Gulf countries to continue pursuing normalization with Israel.
Kahwaji said the Doha strike was „another nail in the coffin“, of the U.S.-sponsored agreements, raising the possibility of „being annulled or canceled because of the Israeli actions.“
Hamas, which was the main target, appears to have won this round -and may even have been strengthened- after Israel failed to assassinate its senior political leaders, marking its first such miss since Oct. 7, 2023.
The failed operation further demonstrated, observers said, that Netanyahu was never serious about ending the Gaza war or negotiating a settlement. On the contrary, it reinforced the belief that he has always sought to prolong the conflict and push for the exodus of Gazans from the Strip.
Killing Hamas’s political leadership would not end the war, would not necessarily bring the hostages back and would likely deepen the resistance and prolong the conflict, Alexander stated.
Despite the Gaza negotiations being in a state of deep uncertainty and disarray, a Hamas source in Beirut said the group was ready to continue „reviewing Trump’s proposal“ and reengaging in the cease-fire talks. Qatar, too, said it will not drop its mediation efforts.
But any new mediation effort will be extremely difficult and will require restoring diplomatic trust, greater pressure from the United States and strong guarantees to the mediating country to get off the ground. Would the decision to exclude Hamas from any future settlement and from any role in governing Gaza still stand?
According to the Hamas source, the „shortest and easiest path“ is to compel Israel to uphold previous agreements that call for a lasting cease-fire, release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, entry of humanitarian aid and the start of Gaza’s reconstruction as conditions to end the war.
The source told UPI that after 706 days of war, Netanyahu has still been unable to achieve his goals, force Hamas to surrender or break its will. Even if Israel succeeds in killing more of its leaders, that will not stop the resistance.
„The battle is not just about Gaza; it’s much bigger“, he said, referring to the „Greater Israel“ vision, that aims to seize all of Palestine, as well as parts of Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria and others.

What If We Acted Like Political Violence Was a Problem?

0

De-escalation is that much harder, yet even more necessary, in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s brutal assassination.
What would you do if you believed that the United States has a growing and volatile problem with political violence?
That question, as we relearned to our horror with Wednesday’s assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, is no longer rhetorical or academic. There have been too many snipers at rallies, too many home invasions of public officials, too many ambushes at government institutions, and too many intentional escalations at public demonstrations, to wave this trend off as statistical noise, coming as it has against a backdrop of plummeting societal trust and sustained Manichean hyperbole about the existential threat of the political Other.
So, what would you do about it? How would you act? As in most things, there is no one, true answer to the prompt; it depends on your vantage point, predilections, and station in life.
President Donald Trump, I think, was on the right track Wednesday night, if foreshadowingly tilting toward primary causality, when he posited, „It’s long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree, day after day, year after year.“
Some on the political left have spent the better part of a decade demonizing Trump and his fellow travelers (Kirk was a supporter and friend) as possibly fascist authoritarians who either seek or turn a willfully blind eye to the deaths of their political opponents and other citizens. The cover of The New Republic on newsstands the day Trump was nicked by an assassin’s bullet was an image of him with a Hitler mustache over the words „American fascism.“ Joe Biden during the COVID-19 pandemic accused „Republican governors in states like Texas and Florida“ of „playing politics with the lives of their citizens, especially children.“ Trans activist Samuel Theodore Cain, a.k.a. Roxie Wolfe, was arrested four months ago and charged with threatening the life of a public official after posting on X, „I’m going to assassinate Representative Nancy Mace with a gun and I’m being 100% dead ass“, in the wake of Mace’s repeated criticisms of „the radical trans movement.“
As the great, pseudonymous American car-identifier Dave „Iowahawk“ Burge posted on X Wednesday, „Stop normalizing violence. The first step is to stop framing anybody who disagrees with you an existential threat.“
Alas, Trump and his supporters, both long before and immediately after Kirk’s murder, could not resist some existential threat-inflation and demonization of their own.
„For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals“, the president said. „This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today, and it must stop right now. My administration will find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity, and to other political violence, including the organizations that fund it and support it, as well as those who go after our judges, law enforcement officials, and everyone else who brings order to our country.“
To the contrary: The responsibility for Kirk’s killing, as in basically all acts of political violence, does not flow „directly“ from political rhetoric, no matter how vile, but rather from the finger of the sniper; motives and mental state to hopefully be determined later. And all of Trump’s cited examples of violence were left-wingers targeting either conservatives or businessmen or law enforcement; nothing about the assassination this June of Democratic Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman (D–Brooklyn Park), no word about the 2022 skull-fracturing home-invasion hammer-attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul (which Trump has serially joked about); and certainly full radio silence on the multiple assaults on law enforcement committed by Trump’s own supporters on January 6, 2021.
A person truly committed to blunting the rise of political violence in a two-party country would look to physical and rhetorical examples emanating from both major blocs, beginning with the twin riotousness of the George Floyd protests in the summer of 2020 and the ransacking of the Capitol on January 6. Trump’s blanket pardon of even violent J-6 convicts precluded that conversation on the right; meanwhile, there’s little evidence of the cultural left being willing to grapple with the madness of 2020, while murderous psychos like Luigi Mangione and Hamas get way too much love.
Perhaps understandably, if not quite justifiably, people on the right grieving over Kirk used that moment to go more blanket, more shrill, and even more threateningly violent toward them. „The Left is the party of murder“, Elon Musk wrote. Fox host Jesse Watters on Wednesday asserted that, „They are at war with us. Whether we want to accept it or not, they are at war with us. And what are we going to do about it?“ Self-described „Libertarian, GMU Econ, Writer and Think Tanker“ Simon Laird declared, „I’m done with de-escalation. I’m done with compromise“, adding: „Killing a few dozen Federal judges and New York Times journalists would have an effect. I’m not calling for violence at this time, but I’m done with the idea that violence is not an option on the negotiation table.“
The most important thing about Charlie Kirk’s assassination is not the threat of further bloody escalation, but the sickening death of a young father who had fashioned a remarkably successful career around the belief that vigorous political discourse was the necessary preventer of political violence. That, and not various whataboutisms and what-ifs, should be heartbroken reaction enough, and for most normal people, I’m sure that’s true.
But for those who are tempted to throw more hands, for those playing the „yeah, but“ game about Kirk’s allegedly beyond-the-pale beliefs, for those LARPing about some imagined future where the Virtuous side of this struggle manages, through force, to defeat the Bad—ask yourself honestly: Is this how the political violence ends?

NFL's Carolina Panthers Fire Staffer Charlie Rock Over Charlie Kirk Post

0

„We do not condone violence of any kind,“ the team said on X.
NFL team the Carolina Panthers fired a public relations employee, Charlie Rock, over a social media post he made about the killing of conservative Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk.
„The views expressed by our employees are their own and do not represent those of the Carolina Panthers. We do not condone violence of any kind. We are taking this matter very seriously and have accordingly addressed it with the individual“, the team wrote on X.
Rock, a football communications coordinator for the NFL team, posted on X after Kirk was shot, „Why are yall sad? Your man said it was worth it .“, including a photo of the 31-year-old conservative activist.
The Charlotte Observer, The Athletic and Fox News reported Thursday, citing a source briefed on the situation, that the employee has been fired.

REKLAMA

1. Świadome naruszenie polskiej przestrzeni powietrznej przez rosyjskie drony to agresywna prowokacja zbrojna ze strony Rosji. Nazywajmy rzeczy po imieniu.
2. Jednym z jej celów było sprawdzenie, jaka będzie nasza bezpośrednia reakcja. Procedury i instytucje zadziałały.
I wiele, wiele innych.

What is a bolt action rifle? What we know about the gun used to kill Charlie Kirk

0

Police found the bolt-action rifle used to kill Charlie Kirk abandoned in nearby woods, a hunting weapon valued for reliability but limited to single shots before reloading.
The gun recovered by authorities in the assassination of Charlie Kirk was a bolt-action rifle — a common hunting weapon valued for its reliability but limited to a single shot before reloading.
Unlike a semiautomatic, the shooter must manually operate the bolt handle to cycle the weapon: lifting and pulling it back moves the spent cartridge, while pushing it forward chambers a new round from the magazine. Lowering the bolt locks the round and seals the chamber, making the rifle ready to fire again — a simple, durable design that has kept it popular among hunters and target shooters.
„This process limits the rate of fire, you can only take one shot at a time“, explained retired Marine Lt. Col. Hal Kempfer in an interview with Fox News Digital.
Kempfer noted that with a bolt-action rifle, the spent cartridge often remains in the chamber rather than being ejected, meaning shooters don’t leave behind shell casings or „brass“ that investigators can use for forensics.
„That’s just one of those things where you, if you’ve thought it through, you know that you can’t leave any forensic evidence for investigators to work with“, he said.
On Thursday, authorities said they recovered the rifle used to assassinate Kirk in the woods near the scene, where investigators believe the shooter abandoned it while fleeing to evade law enforcement.
„They’re gonna be doing a lot of work on the forensics of this weapon as these firearms tend to have a history“, he said, adding that investigators will try to trace where it was sold and how it changed hands.
„It’s possible the shooter used a straw buyer or another method to conceal their identity — but that’s the kind of legwork investigators will now have to do to track the shooter“, Kempfer said.
Kempfer, who served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, said that the fatal shot was „not a particularly difficult“ one but does take planning.
„You wouldn’t have to be some expert sniper or something, hunters take this shot all the time“, he said, adding that the distance, clear weather, and elevated position all worked to the shooter’s advantage.
