China is building a vertical forest, a set of two buildings filled with an estimated 1,100 large- and medium-sized trees from 23 local species and more than 2,500 shrubs and plants, covering 60,000 square feet of plantable area. The project aims to combat the country’s choking smog problem, clean oxygen, and enhance local biodiversity.

The buildings, which will be located in Pukou District in Nanjing City , are designed to absorb more than 25 tons of carbon dioxide annually and provide an estimated 132 pounds (60 kilograms) of oxygen each day.
One of the towers , standing at 354-feet tall, will be the home of the next Hyatt hotel with about 250 guest rooms. The taller tower, with 35 floors and standing at 656-feet, will house a museum, some offices, and an architectural school specializing in green building. Both towers will rest on a 66-foot-high stadium that will have a food market, a shopping center, and a conference hall to name a few.
