BANGOR — Lucas Woodhouse scored 20 points, Tyrell Sturdivant added 16 and Stony Brook used a big run in the second half Saturday to defeat Maine 74-54 in an America East men’s basketball game at the Cross Insurance Center.
After Wes Myers of Maine (5-14, 1-3) made a layup with 14:41 left to make it 42-42 – the seventh tie to go with 13 lead changes – the Seawolves (8-8, 3-0) reeled off 23 straight points.
Stony Brook won its fourth straight. In their last game, the Seawolves scored the final 21 points to beat Albany 72-70 when Woodhouse fed Sturdivant for the winning layup with less than a second to play.
Myers had 18 points for Maine. Vince Eze had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
JOHNSON STATE 66, MAINE MARITIME ACADEMY 62: Kawaun Chavis scored five of his 17 points in overtime as the Badgers (7-7, 4-3 North Atlantic) edged the Mariners (3-11, 0-7) at Castine.
Tyler Thayer scored a game-high 19 points for the Mariners, and Nick Judge added 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
MIDDLEBURY 79, BATES 71: Jake Brown scored a game-high 24 points as the Panthers (12-2, 3-1 NESCAC) downed the Bobcats (12-4, 3-1) at Lewiston.
Matt St. Amour added 14 points for the Panthers. Reserve Jeff Spellman scored 14 points for the Bobcats, who trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half. Justin Zukowski and Malcom Delpeche each added 12 for Bates.
UMASS-DARTMOUTH 85, SOUTHERN MAINE 58: Abi Akanni scored a game-high 20 points and the Corsairs (10-5, 4-1 Little East) ended the first half on a 14-0 run to top the Huskies (5-10, 0-5) at Dartmouth, Massachusetts.
James Starks III had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Southern Maine, and Zach Leal added 11 points, five rebounds and four steals.
ALBERTUS MAGNUS 99, ST. JOSEPH’S 90: Shaquille Mitchell scored 17 of his game-high 29 points in the first half as the Falcons (11-3, 7-1 Great Northeast Athletic) beat the Monks (7-7, 4-3) at New Haven, Connecticut.
Ian Mileikis had 20 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Monks. Ben Malloy added 18 points, hitting six 3-pointers.
SOUTHERN MAINE CC 96, ST. JOSEPH’S (VT) 78: John Morgan scored a game-high 24 points and Ryan Cloutier added 20 as the Seawolves (14-4, 8-2 Yankee Small Conference) downed the Saints (7-9, 2-7) at South Portland.
Chase Soares had 13 points and 15 assists while committing just three turnovers for the Seawolves, who opened the game on an 11-3 run and led 45-35 at halftime. Dylan Silvestri added 15 points and eight rebounds.
THOMAS 64, UM-FARMINGTON 56: Carlos Gonzalez scored a game-high 23 points to go with 13 rebounds and the Terriers (7-8, 5-0 North Atlantic) started the game on a 26-4 run to get by the Beavers (4-10, 3-1) at Farmington.
Ian King added 11 points for the Terriers, who led 35-19 at halftime.
Amir Moss scored 22 points to lead the Beavers.
UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 61, CURRY 50: Ryan Matthews scored 19 points off the bench and the Nor’easters (5-10, 3-5 Commonwealth Coast) used an 18-6 spurt early in the second half to beat the Colonels (1-14, 0-8) at Milton, Massachusetts.
UNE trailed 28-24 with 17:52 left in the second but went on its run to take a 42-34 lead with 10:29 left.
BOWDOIN 81, WILLIAMS 71: Jack Simonds scored a game-high 32 points and the Polar Bears (8-6, 1-2 NESCAC) ended on a 20-7 run to beat the Ephs (12-3, 0-2) at Brunswick.
Bowdoin trailed 64-61 with 8:02 left in the second but Simonds knocked down consecutive 3-pointers to give the Polar Bears a 67-64 advantage. Bowdoin trailed 38-35 at halftime.
BOWDOIN 5, TRINITY 1: Five players scored for the Polar Bears (7-8, 4-6 NESCAC), who took a 3-0 lead through the first period and beat the Bantams (8-5-1, 4-4) at Brunswick.
Matthew Melanson, Austin Ricci, John-Alexander Kourkoulus, Cody Todesco and Matthew Lison scored for Bowdoin.
HOBART 5, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: The Statesmen (9-2-3) scored four consecutive goals and beat the Nor’easters (7-6-1) at Geneva, New York.
Ryan Bloom scored for UNE from Danny Antonoff and Brady Fleurent at 6:51 of the second period.
NORWICH 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Paul Russell scored the go-ahead goal with 7:17 left and the No. 2 ranked Cadets (15-1-2, 10-1 New England Hockey) held off the Huskies (6-10, 3-8) at Gorham.
Jordan Hall gave USM a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal 4:26 into the first.
COLBY 4, WESLEYAN 4: Tyler Kobryn scored the tying goal for the Cardinal (8-4-1, 4-3-1 NESCAC) with 1:42 to play in regulation against the Mules (6-4-2, 5-3-2) at Waterville.

Полицейские Санкт-Петербурга прервали спектакль „Неявные воздействия“ московского Театра.doc, так как решили, что актриса Людмила Корниенко хочет покончить жизнь самоубийством, написал художественный руководитель театра Михаил Угаров в Facebook.
„Полиция прервала спектакль, актрису и режиссера увезли в ментуру. Полицейские поверили в вымысел, и решили, что актриса хочет покончить с собой, спрыгнув с балкона. После профилактической беседы актрису и режиссера любезно отвезли на место действия, чтобы продолжить спектакль. Я же говорю – тотальный спектакль, все в нем поневоле становятся персонажами“, – отметил он.
Один из задержанных, режиссер Всеволод Лисовский, подчеркнул , что полицейские оказались „благодарными зрителями и ценными участниками“ спектакля.
„Сначала они вдохновились игрой Люды Корниенко и поверили в то, что она собирается сброситься с балкона Гостиного двора, затем забрали меня с Людой в участок, придав действу динамики, а потом, после отеческого внушения, отвезли туда, где мы воссоединились с группой и отыграли финал в полном составе“, – написал он в Facebook.

Арестованный экс-командир роты „Торнадо“ Руслан Онищенко уверяет, что не отрезал ухо своему бывшему подчиненному Максиму Глебову. Об этом экс-командир „Торнадо“ заявил “ Громадському „.
Онищенко утверждает, что пытался осмотреть рану и вытереть кровь. „Я пытался понять, что делать. Я вытирал кровь, чтобы увидеть рану и понять, что нужно: тряпка, снег ли перекись водорода“, – сказал Онищенко.
Ранее в сети появилось видео из Лукьяновского СИЗО, на котором видно, что Онищенко, вероятно, отрезает ухо своему бывшему подчиненному.
11 января в Киеве произошли столкновения между заключенными и охраной в Лукьяновском СИЗО. Позже стало известно, что один из „торнадовцев“ Максим Глебов отрезал себе ухо.
Комбат „Торнадо“ Онищенко заявил, что Глебов сам себе отрезал ухо и решил нанести себе увечья из-за „эмоции после суда“.
Адвокат Владимир Якимов заявлял, что Глебов отрезал себе ухо якобы из-за издевательства майора Лукьяновского СИЗО.

В субботу вечером, 14 января, во Львовской обл. в районе села Ямельня произошло масштабное ДТП. Об этом сообщил специалист ГУ Нацполиции во Львовской обл. Игорь Зинкевич на своей странице в Facebook.
„14.01.2017 в 22:30 дорога Львов-Краковец заблокирована. В с. Ямельня произошло ДТП. По мере возможности избегайте данный участок дороги“, – написал он.

Согласно сообщению, на дороге развернуло фуру и в нее врезался автобус с туристами.
Также Зинкевич сообщил, что из 40 пассажиров, которые находились в автобусе во время столкновения, никто не пострадал.
Напомним, в пятницу, 13 января, в результате ДТП в Черновицкой области погибли 4 человека.

Напомним, некоторые конгрессмены будут бойкотировать инаугурацию Трампа. В свою очередь представители Демократической партии США жалуются на трудности, возникшие у них с получением билетов на инаугурацию нового главы государства.

Тяжелая ракета-носитель Falcon 9 успешно вывела на орбиту десять аппаратов спутниковой телефонной связи нового поколения Iridium NEXT. Об этом сообщил основатель SpaceX Илон Маск в своем Twitter.
„Миссия проходит хорошо. Началось развертывания 10 спутников Iridium“, – написал Маск.

В субботу, 14 января в 19:54 по Киеву ракета-носитель Falcon 9 была запущена с авиабазы Ванденберг на побережье Калифорнии.
Это первый запуск, который осуществила компания после аварии в сентябре, когда ракета взорвалась на пусковой платформе.
SpaceX планировала этот запуск еще неделю назад, но штормовая погода помешала этому.
Напомним, до последнего взрыва Falcon 9 могут быть причастны конкуренты SpaceX.

Родственники жертв крушения MH17 требуют возобновить поиски останков погибших , сообщает „Немецкая волна“.
Они считают, что если голландский журналист смог обнаружить на месте крушения кость, значит не все останки еще найдены.
Такую позицию 14 января обнародовал президент фонда жертв катастрофы рейса MH17 Эверт ван Зейтвелд, который потерял в крушении сына, дочь и родителей жены. Он подчеркнул, что родственники погибших не хотят, чтобы там оставались человеческие останки.
Разговор на эту тему возобновился после того, как прокуратура Нидерландов подтвердила, что кость, найденная голландским журналистом Михелем Спеккерсом на Донбассе, принадлежит одной из жертв катастрофы.
Когда журналист был в Донецкой области, местные жители сообщили ему, что на месте крушения до сих пор лежат обломки самолета. Он отправился в район катастрофы и обнаружил человеческую кость.
Ван Зейтвелд отметил, что находка голландского журналиста „вновь открыла еще незажившие раны“.
7 января голландская полиция задержала в аэропорту Амстердама двух граждан Нидерландов – Стефана Бэка и Мишеля Спеккерса. Бэк и Спеккерс провели две недели в оккупированной пророссийскими боевиками части Луганской и Донецкой областей. Бэк утверждает, что проводил с коллегой расследование о крушении рейса MH17 на Донбассе.
Самолет Boeing 777, осуществлявший рейс MH17 (Амстердам – Куала-Лумпур), потерпел крушение 17 июля 2014 года вблизи Тореза Донецкой области. Погибли все 298 человек, которые находились на борту. 195 из них были гражданами Нидерландов.
28 сентября 2016 года Международная следственная группа, состоящая из представителей Нидерландов, Малайзии, Бельгии, Австралии и Украины, объявила промежуточные итоги расследования обстоятельств крушения. Согласно выводам комиссии, рейс MH17 был сбит из комплекса „Бук“, привезенного из России , с территории, подконтрольной пророссийским боевикам. После крушения самолета „Бук“ вернули в РФ. При этом комиссия заявила, что данные о причастности к катастрофе России как государства пока не выявлены.
Официальный представитель МИД РФ Мария Захарова обвинила следователей в предвзятости и политической мотивированности. Спикер президента России Дмитрий Песков заявил, что доказательств вины Москвы в докладе нет.

Ann Brebner, Casting Director for George Lucas, Dies at 93

Ann Brebner, a San Francisco-area casting director who worked for George Lucas and got one of the first looks at his script for Star Wars , has died. She was 93.
Brebner died Friday at her home in San Rafael, Calif., the Marin Independent Journal reported .
A native of New Zealand, she and her husband, the late actor John Brebner, launched the Bay Area’s first professional casting agency in 1960.
She cast actors for such Lucas films as THX 1138 (1971), his first feature, and American Graffiti (1973), and the first dramatic reading of his screenplay for 1977’s Star Wars came in her San Francisco office.
Afterward, the writer-director gave her a copy of the script, which was sold at auction in July. (Reports put the price tag at more than $25,000.)
„In 1975, George called me to tell me he had completed writing a first draft of a movie [then known as] The Star Wars,“ she wrote in a letter that accompanied her copy of the script. „He asked whether I would arrange a reading of it. He brought me a script, we went through some ideas about casting, and I brought together a group of actors together. The reading took place in one of my conference rooms, in San Francisco in late August 1975. “
„When George packed up the scripts to take them home, I asked if I could keep mine. He agreed, but I was not to let anyone else read it. I kept that promise. ‚My‘ copy has been in my office ever since. “
In 2015, Lucas inscribed the title page in blue ink: „To Ann Thanks [for] all your help George Lucas. “
A salute to her on her 90th birthday was held at Lucas‘ Skywalker Ranch in Nicasio, Calif.
Brebner also helped cast roles in such films as Petulia (1968), Bullitt (1968), Harold and Maude (1971), Freebie and the Bean (1974), The Conversation (1974) Escape From Alcatraz (1979) and The Right Stuff (1983).
Brebner led the campaign that remade an old San Rafael movie theater into what is now the Christopher B. Smith Rafael Film Center, which opened in 1999 and serves as the home of the annual Mill Valley Film Festival and the California Film Institute.
„We’ve all been touched by her in many and various ways,“ Mark Fishkin, founder of the Mill Valley festival, told the Marin newspaper. „She was a great friend to me. She was one of a kind. None of us will ever forget her. „

No plans for digital Fisher in ‘Star Wars’

LOS ANGELES — The makers of “Star Wars” have put a quick end to rumors that while Carrie Fisher has died, her Princess Leia may live on.
Making a rare foray into the sprawling world of “Star Wars” speculation, Lucasfilm said Friday night that there are no plans to digitally recreate Fisher to appear in future episodes of the movie saga.
“There is a rumor circulating that we would like to address,” a company statement said. “We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.”
Fisher, who reprised her role as Leia in 2015’s “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens,” had finished shooting “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” due out next December, when she died Dec. 27 of cardiac arrest at age 60.
Her mother Debbie Reynolds died the next day.
But Fisher had also been slated to appear in “Episode IX,” scheduled for release in 2019. That film is still being scripted, and the writers are deciding how to handle her death.

Actress Zoe Saldana Slams Hollywood 'Bullies' Against Trump

Hollywood actors were „bullies“ toward President-elect Donald Trump — and that treatment helped the Republican win the November election, „Star Trek“ actress Zoe Saldana said in an interview.
„We were trying to single out a man for all these things he was doing wrong,“ she added, „and that created empathy in a big group of people in America that felt bad for him and that are believing in his promises. “
Saldana, who supported Democrat Hillary Clinton, said that the time had come to move forward from the election.
„I’m learning from [Trump’s victory] with a lot of humility,“ she said. „If we have people continue to be strong and educate ourselves and stand by equal rights and treat everyone with respect, we won’t go back to those times. “
„I just say he’s now elected and we as a country need to support whoever’s the president because that’s what the country’s based on,“ Kidman said on Tuesday. „“However that happened, he’s there, and let’s go. “
„You and all of us in this room belong to the most vilified segments of America right now: Hollywood, foreigners and the press,“ she said.
