Bei einer Pressekonferenz mit US-Regierungssprecher Sean Spicer (45) ist am Freitag mehreren der Regierung unliebsamen Medien der Zugang verwehrt worden. Darunter „CNN“, die „New York Times“, „Politico“ und „Buzzfeed“.
Die „New York Times“ twitterte daraufhin: „So etwas ist im Weißen Haus noch nie geschehen in der langen Zeit, in der wir über verschiedene Regierungen berichteten.“

Teilnehmen durften Medien wie das rechtsextreme „Breitbart“, sowie die Fernsehsender „Fox“, „NBC“ und „CBS“.
Das „Times-Magazin“ und „AP“ boykottierten die Pressekonferenz aufgrund des Ausschlusses der Kollegen.
Diese Aktion des Weißen Hauses kam Stunden, nachdem Trump die Medien bei der konservativen CPAC-Konferenz scharf angegriffen hatte. Er nannte verschiedene Medien „unehrlich“, da sie „gefälschte Nachrichten“ verbreiten würden. Dann machte er sich über Journalisten lustig, die ein Recht auf freie Meinungsäußerung einforderten.
„Sie kommen immer mit dem 1. Zusatzartikel“, sagte Trump unter dem Johlen der Anwesenden. Der 1. Zusatzartikel zur Verfassung der Vereinigten Staaten sichert unter anderem das Recht auf freie Meinungsäußerung.
Eine Sprecherin des Weißen Hauses, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, spielte den Ausschluss der Medien in einer E-Mail an die „New York Times“ am Freitagnachmittag herunter.
„Wir haben uns entschlossen, ein paar Leute dazu einzuladen, nicht mehr und nicht weniger“, schrieb sie.
Bei der Pressekonferenz am Freitag waren Kameras nicht erlaubt. Diese Art von weniger formalen Pressekonferenzen, genannt „Schar“, wird nicht live in den Nachrichten übertragen. Allerdings haben vergangene Regierungen dabei nicht einzelne Medien selektiert.
„Es war eindeutig, dass da viele Nachrichten-Organisationen waren, die weniger Verbreitung haben und Trump-freundlich sind“, sagte Noah Bierman von der „Los Angeles Times“, der ebenfalls nicht reingelassen wurde. „Sie haben fast alle Fernsehsender reingelassen außer ‚CNN‘. Diese Auswahl macht Sorgen.“

Zwei der Medien, die nicht reingelassen wurden, erregten Trumps Zorn in letzter Zeit in besonderem Maße: „CNN“ und die „New York Times“. „Buzzfeed“ und „Politico“ waren bereits bei einigen Wahlkampfveranstaltungen von Trump nicht zugelassen worden.
Vertreter der ausgeschlossenen Medien sagten am Freitag, sie glaubten, dass Weiße Haus wolle sie damit bestrafen.

Ben Smith, Chefredakteur von „Buzzfeed“, ließ verlauten: „Das ist offenbar ein Versuch des Weißen Hauses, Nachrichten-Organisationen zu bestrafen, deren Berichterstattung es nicht mag.“

Eine gute Portion Glück und zwei Tore von Serge Gnabry haben Werder Bremen im Kampf um den Klassenerhalt aufatmen lassen. Die Hanseaten gewannen den norddeutschen Bundesliga-Abstiegsgipfel beim VfL Wolfsburg schmeichelhaft mit 2:1 (2:1) und zogen so nach Punkten mit den enttäuschten Platzherren gleich. Dabei schockte Gnabry den VfL durch einen frühen Doppelschlag.
Der Olympia-Zweite von Rio war in der zehnten Minute mit einem abgefälschten Schuss erfolgreich. In der 18. Minute drosch der Nationalspieler den Ball aus kurzer Distanz unter die Latte, es war der zehnte Saisontreffer und der erste Bundesliga-Doppelpack des Angreifers. Über den Zwei-Tore-Vorsprung konnten sich die Bremer aber nur 60 Sekunden freuen. Quasi im Gegenzug verkürzte Borja Mayoral per Abstauber (19.).
Der Torjäger ersetzte überraschend Topstürmer Mario Gomez, der zunächst auf der Auswechselbank Platz nehmen musste. Vor 30 000 Zuschauern in der ausverkauften Arena war die Pause für Gomez nicht die einzige Überraschung in der Aufstellung des VfL. Auch der Ex-Kölner Yannick Gerhardt fand sich bei den Reservisten wieder. Die “Wölfe” von Trainer Valerien Ismael waren in der Offensive klar das aktivere Team, wirkten im Abschluss aber zu unentschlossen.
Die Bremer Deckung brauchte in dieser Phase mehrfach eine Menge Glück, um nicht weitere Gegentore zu kassieren. So schoss Daniel Didavi (36.) einen Freistoß an den Pfosten, kurz darauf traf auch Mayoral nur Aluminium (40.). Unmittelbar vor dem Pausenpfiff scheiterte Ricardo Rodriguez aus kurzer Distanz (45.+1). In der Vorwärtsbewegung war das Team von Coach Alexander Nouri bis zum Halbzeitpfiff gnadenlos effektiv. Gnabry nutzte seine Einschussmöglichkeiten eiskalt und veranlasste Nouri zu einem Freudentänzchen vor der Trainerbank.
Nach dem Seitenwechsel setzten die Niedersachsen ihren Sturmlauf fort. Bremen stand tief und hatte phasenweise Mühe, die gegnerische Spielhälfte zu erreichen. Ab der 63. Minute half auch Gomez, den Druck auf die Gäste hochzuhalten. Aber zögerlich fand Werder zu ein bisschen mehr Stabilität und brachte den Vorsprung erfolgreich über die Zeit – auch, weil Gomez in der Nachspielzeit kläglich scheiterte (90.+3). Neben dem Doppeltorschützen Gnabry verdiente sich bei den Bremern Torhüter Felix Wiedwald mit mehreren sehenswerten Paraden eine gute Note.

Penelope Fillon war jahrelang auf Parlamentskosten bei ihrem Mann und dessen Nachfolger im Parlament beschäftigt gewesen. Der Verdacht der Scheinbeschäftigung hatte den Wahlkampf Fillons in den vergangenen Wochen schwer belastet. Der Konservative hatte die Vorwürfe wiederholt zurückgewiesen.

China Claims South China Sea is ‘Peaceful and Stable’

It is the first patrol of the South China Sea by a U. S. aircraft carrier since Donald Trump took office as U. S. president.
The United States should stop making trouble in the South China Sea since the situation in this disputed body of water that might one day ignite a United States-China war has become “peaceful and stable,” according to the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

Speaking through its official spokesman, the PLA said countries outside of the South China Sea region — an indirect reference to the U. S. — to stop stirring threats of war and tension in the region. China said it is monitoring the carrier strike group of the nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), which entered the South China Sea on Feb. 18.
It is the first patrol of the South China Sea by a U. S. aircraft carrier since Donald Trump took office as U. S. president on Jan. 20.
“We hope the U. S. can sincerely respect the sovereignty and security interests of countries in the region, as well as the efforts they have made toward regional peace and stability,” said the PLA through its spokesman.
“We will also respect other nations’ freedom of passage and flight through the region so long as they adhere to international law. ”
The PLA claims the situation in the South China Sea is becoming “peaceful and stable. ”
“Countries outside of the region shouldn’t purposefully stir threats of war or tension, but should inject positive energy into this good development. ”
The PLA also believes “healthy Sino-U. S. military relation adheres to the basic interests of the two nations’ people, as well as being beneficial for peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region and the world. ”
“It needs China and the US to jointly maintain it. We hope both sides can work together; strengthen communication; avoid misunderstandings and push forward military relations on the right track. ”
Chinese military pundits said China should “calmly observe and respond carefully” to the situation in the South China Sea. Others believe the U. S. is reinstating its military presence in South China Sea as a bargaining chip to use against China.
They argue the U. S. will continue its Pivot to Asia and, therefore, “China has to be ready for anything. “

In “The Price,” a police officer feels that life has passed him by while he took care of his now-dead father. He and his estranged brother must reunite to sell off dad’s possessions.

Samsung releases Secure Folder app for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

Samsung is giving its users a new way to keep their data, apps, and contacts safe and secure with Secure Lock, now available for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge handsets running Android 7.0 or later.
Samsung officially released a downloadable version of Secure Folder today, a new security feature for its Galaxy S7 and S7 edge handsets that serves as a way for users to keep sensitive or personal information safe and private.
The app utilizes Samsung’s Knox security platform to create a separate, sandboxed space on a device where users can store important notes, images, apps, contacts or documents. Files stored in Secure Folder can only be accessed through PIN, pattern, passcode, or biometric authentication.
Users can also make copies of apps stored in Secure Folder and access them normally. Anything saved or done in apps stored in Secure Folder will remain separate from the same apps outside Secure Folder.
Secure Folder also supports cloud-based backup and restore, and any backup data stored in Secure Folder will remain separate from other backup data.
Secure Folder is available to download via Galaxy Apps, assuming you’ve got Android 7.0 or later on your S7 or S7 edge. Samsung plans to extend support for other devices soon.

TOKYO — China’s announcement it has suspended North Korean coal imports may have been its first test of whether the Trump administration is ready to do something about a major, and mutual, security problem: North Korea’s nukes. While China is Pyongyang’s biggest enabler, it is also the biggest outside agent of regime-challenging change — just not in the way Washington has wanted.
Judging from Trump’s limited comments so far, and the gaping chasm between Washington’s long-held focus on sanctions and punishment and Beijing’s equally deep commitment to diplomatic talks that don’t require the North to first give up its arsenal, a deal between the two won’t come easily.
But if Beijing is indeed sending a signal to Trump about Pyongyang, its opening bid was a big one. North Korea’s coal exports to China totaled $1.2 billion last year, according to Chinese customs. U. S. officials say that represents about one third of the North’s total export income.
For Kim Jong Un, that’s going to hurt.
In a bitter critique, the North’s official media on Thursday likened the decision by Beijing to an enemy state’s move “to bring down” their social system and, in a tone it normally reserves for Washington, Tokyo or Seoul, accused Beijing of “dancing to the tune of the U. S.” It was one of the most biting attacks the North’s media has ever made against China.
Trump, meanwhile, has often appeared to be more interested in bashing China than dealing with it. He has accused Beijing of not helping at all with the problem, and at the height of his bombast last year on the campaign trail, claimed China has “total control over North Korea.”
“China should solve that problem,” he said. “And if they don’t solve the problem, we should make trade very difficult for China.”
Trump has vowed to “deal with” North Korea and his administration is conducting a broad-ranging policy review, including how to make sanctions bite. Negotiations haven’t been ruled out, said a U. S. official who wasn’t authorized to discuss internal deliberations and demanded anonymity.
Trump’s basic position reflects a dusty old chestnut in Washington: that China can, and should, force Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear weapons but has instead, recklessly and shortsightedly, become North Korea’s great enabler because it fears South Korea, an American ally that hosts U. S. troops, controlling everything right up to its border.
That is, after all, why China fought the U. S. in the Korean War.
But the pervasive Chinese economic engagement with the North that so aggravates sanctions’ advocates in Washington has dramatically advanced the growth of a gray-zone market system, the swelling of an increasingly influential merchant class that is not utterly beholden to Kim Jong Un or his ruling party and shifts in popular attitudes and social relationships that could be extremely destabilizing for the entrenched North Korean status quo.
Beijing is no buddy of the Kims. And both sides know it.
Though they fought on the same side in the 1950-53 Korean War, which cost China hundreds of thousands of lives, neither side trusts the other or harbors any illusions their relationship is, or ever was, anything like a friendship.
On the flip side, protecting stable trade relations with a prosperous Seoul is far more important and profitable for Beijing than its dealings with the Kims’ northern dynasty. That trade serves to keep Pyongyang in check and also undermines the assumption a reunited Korea would have the same motivations to remain the stalwart ally of Washington that Seoul now is.
It’s also not a given the Korean public would continue to support the idea of hosting U. S. troops at all since their only purpose post-unification would, indeed, be to threaten China. There is considerable popular opposition in the South to the U. S. bases there even with the North intact and growing stronger.
Exasperated U. S. policymakers like to say there are no good options with North Korea.
China could make the same complaint.
Beijing is as painfully aware its influence over Pyongyang has limits as Washington is aware that its military superiority alone cannot solve the problem.
China also knows the impact of a North Korean implosion — regional economic chaos, huge flows of refugees into its relatively poor northeast, which already has a sizable ethnic Korean minority — are far bigger problems for it than for the U. S. and far more likely than a last-breath, suicidal nuclear attack by Pyongyang on Washington.
Seen in that framework, it isn’t surprising China has half-heartedly gone along with U. N. resolutions on the North’s nuclear program while advocating for enough security on the peninsula for U. S.-North Korea diplomacy to be a viable option. Its suspension of coal imports was done to comply with an import cap that was part of sanctions it agreed to last year — when Trump was still a private citizen.
But Beijing is also clearly tired of being scapegoated by Washington.
Repeated, self-righteous demands from the White House for China to take sole ownership over what Beijing considers to be a mess Washington created by rushing across the 38th parallel and on to the Yalu River when the North Korean army was in full retreat nearly 70 years ago almost guarantee it won’t.
At least not in the way that Washington wants.
