China to Investigate Former Tianjin Mayor for Graft

NewsHubHuang Xinggu, the former mayor of northern city of Tianjin, is the latest high-profile government official in China to face graft charges. President Xi Jinping’s anti-corruption drive has led to conviction as well as suspension of several high-ranking officials.

Huang was appointed as the mayor of Tianjin in 2008 and also served as the acting Communist Party chief in Tianjin. He was formally put under investigation for bribery charges in September last year. 
The state prosecutor said that Huang would face prosecution for taking bribe adding that the legal procedure against him has already been started.
