HBO hacked, 'Game of Thrones, ' other episode information compromised

The network’s data was compromised and is now being investigated by law enforcement and cybersecurity firms, according to a statement from HBO.
HBO is the latest victim of a cyber hacking.
The network’s data was compromised, chairman and CEO Richard Plepler confirmed in an email to employees received by USA TODAY along with a statement from the company Monday, and is now being investigated by law enforcement and cybersecurity firms.
« As most of you have probably heard by now, there has been a cyber incident directed at the company which has resulted in some stolen proprietary information, including some of our programming,  » Plepler wrote. « Any intrusion of this nature is obviously disruptive, unsettling, and disturbing for all of us. »
The hack included an unaired episode of HBO’s Room 104 and Ballers and written materials for Game of Thrones.
Plepler also said the incident is « unfortunately all too familiar in the world we now find ourselves a part of,  » but assured that HBO along with outside experts are working « round the clock » to ensure it is resolved.
HBO also made headlines Monday for backlash over new show Confederate .
Twitter users rallied against the network regarding the show’s concept of imagining slavery as a modern-day institution.
