Microsoft has announced that Windows virtualization use rights are coming to enterprise customers with Windows 10 subscriptions in the cloud solution provider (CSP) program in early September.
Microsoft’s Inspire 2017 Vision keynote is well underway. Along with announcing the expansion of its Mixed Reality Partner Program and the Microsoft 365 subscription, the company has also stated that virtualization use rights are coming to Windows 10 subscriptions in the cloud solution provider (CSP) program.
Touting that Windows has always been about « choice », Microsoft stated that its latest and most secure version of the operating system, Windows 10, offers a wide range of options to users. This does not only come in the form of form factors for the company’s devices running the OS, but also input options and budget constraints.
The company says that most enterprise customers consider Windows virtualization to be the perfect solution for security, infrastructure, and productivity. It allows them to move seamlessly from device to device and also aids them in situations where a data set or an app may require an extra layer of separation from the end-user device.
As such, it has announced that virtualization use rights are coming to Windows 10 subscriptions in the cloud solution provider (CSP) program. Additionally, it has also introduced a certification program for third-party hosting partners that want to host virtual machines using licenses acquired via the CSP program.
Microsoft notes that not every enterprise customer requires virtualization so both flavors will be offered to customers, allowing them to pay for the rights only if they require them.
Staring from September 6,2017, customers will be offered five subscription offers in the CSP program with Windows virtualization use rights. This will enable Windows virtual machines to be hosted with an eligible multi-tenant partner or Microsoft Azure, in accordance with the following:
