For many neighborhoods in Houston, Thursdays and Fridays have always been « trash day. » However, after Hurricane Harvey left thousands of homes in the region flooded and everything inside ruined, trash day has a different feel in Houston this week.
For many neighborhoods in Houston, Thursdays and Fridays have always been « trash day. » However, after Hurricane Harvey left thousands of homes in the region flooded and everything inside ruined, trash day has a different feel in Houston this week.
Throughout Houston, residents have dragged piles of furniture, debris and destroyed valuables to their curb to throw out the detritus and rubble left behind by Hurricane Harvey’s stormy arrival.
Near Greens Bayou, green lawns are punctuated by rising heaps of water-logged home insulation, muddy furniture and trash bags. The whirring noise of helicopter blades roars overhead these once quiet neighborhoods.

Thankfully, some cities in Greater Houston have announced they are resuming trash collection for their areas.
