The V7 will come with the V7+’ hallmark edge-to-edge Full View screen.
Vivo is set to launch a mini or standard version of its V7+ phone in India on November 20. The phone in question will be called the V7 and it will come with the V7+’ hallmark edge-to-edge Full View screen – and an unusual 18:9 aspect ratio – but possibly in an even smaller form factor. It is yet to be seen whether or not the V7 will also ship with the V7+’ 24-megapixel front camera. Vivo is now sending out invites to the media for a launch event scheduled to happen in the national capital on November 20, and the invite makes a clear mention of what’s in store.
Vivo launched the V7+ phone in India in September at a price of Rs 21,990. The Vivo V7+ is a phone banking heavily on design and camera capabilities. While Vivo phones are known for ridiculously high megapixel counts in their cameras, they’re largely seen as an iPhone tip-off from the get-go. The V7+ changes things, as it looks nothing like the iPhone. At the same time, the V7+ continues Vivo’s sheer fascination for ridiculously high megapixel counts in their cameras by offering a whopping 24-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. On the rear, the Vivo V7+ ships with a 16-megapixel camera.
The most striking aspect of the Vivo V7+ — as opposed to Vivo’s previous offerings – is its design. The V7+ is an edge-to-edge or bezel-less phone, which means much like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the LG V30, the V7+ has an unusually tall screen and an unusual aspect ratio of 18:9. Vivo calls it Full View: a concept that gives Vivo’s new phone a screen-to-body ratio of 84.4 per cent. The V7+ is a 6-inch phone, but because Vivo has shaved off much of the top and bottom bezels as well as the bezels on the sides, the phone occupies a smaller footprint. It feels smaller in the hands.
In terms of all-round design, the Vivo V7+ comes with a full-metal body with discreet antenna lines and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone comes with curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. The V7 is expected to retain much of the design aesthetics of the V7+ but it will probably come with a smaller screen.
In terms of core hardware, the Vivo V7+ is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor clubbed with Adreno 506GPU and 4 gigs of RAM. It comes with 64GB of internal storage which is further expandable by up to 256GB via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The dual-SIM Vivo V7+ runs Android 7.1.2-based Funtouch OS 3.2 and supports 4G LTE connectivity. The phone is further backed by a 3,225mAh battery.
As for the core hardware inside the V7, we will of course have to wait and watch what Vivo has in store come November 20.
