The actress became the 13th Doctor and first woman to take the role in Monday night’s Christmas special of the show « Twice Upon a Time, » which shows the regeneration of Peter Capaldi’s Doctor into Whittaker’s.
In the sci-fi series, a regeneration is when the protagonist, the Time Lord or Doctor, transforms into a new physical form.
Of course, Capaldi didn’t go without sharing some words of wisdom.
« I’ve got a few things to say to you, » he says, walking around the TARDIS, the Doctor’s time machine/spacecraft. « Basic stuff first. Never be cruel, never be cowardly… Remember, hate is always foolish, and love is always wise.
After the transformation is complete, Whittaker smiles, saying « Oh, brilliant! »
And although her appearance was brief, it still caused a stir on social media.

Definitely got a bit emotional at that Doctor Who regeneration. As a kid I always pretended to be a companion when playing, never even occurred to me that I could play at being the actual Doctor, and now so many little girls will get that
