Holiday tensions are on the rise in Detroit.
Holiday pressures reached a breaking point at a Detroit giveaway that turned violent over the weekend.
A 39-year-old woman was accused of pulling a knife on another woman at a Saturday Christmas toy giveaway in Detroit, the Associated Press reports.
Several hundred people were in line for the giveaway on Detroit’s northwest side when a brawl broke out, AP reports.
No injuries were reported.
The woman arrested had two children with her and the three were picked up by relatives from a police precinct, AP reports.
John Cromer, the giveaway organizer, told WXYZ that « people are already under a lot of stress and tension this time of year » and « all it takes (is) for some people to step on somebody’s shoes or to bump into somebody the wrong way and then a fight ensues. »
Detroit police spokespeople were not immediately available for more details.
