Holiday tensions are on the rise in Detroit.
Holiday pressures reached a breaking point at a Detroit giveaway that turned violent over the weekend.
A 39-year-old woman was accused of pulling a knife on another woman at a Saturday Christmas toy giveaway in Detroit, the Associated Press reports.
Several hundred people were in line for the giveaway on Detroit’s northwest side when a brawl broke out, AP reports.
No injuries were reported.
The woman arrested had two children with her and the three were picked up by relatives from a police precinct, AP reports.
John Cromer, the giveaway organizer, told WXYZ that «people are already under a lot of stress and tension this time of year» and «all it takes (is) for some people to step on somebody’s shoes or to bump into somebody the wrong way and then a fight ensues.»
Detroit police spokespeople were not immediately available for more details.
