The East Coast is currently being bombarded with record-low temperatures, and even parts of Florida are receiving snow.
Naturally, this means that a climate change vs. weather battle would take place on Twitter.
It started with a tweet from Al Gore:
“It’s bitter cold in parts of the U. S. but… that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis.”
Al Gore: Freezing is the new warming.
But what can you expect from someone who relies on Fake Nobelist Michael Mann? pic.twitter.com/hVzyEZaear

Gore has made his post-White House career all about increasing the country’s awareness of climate change. According to Gore, as a result of climate change, we should be experiencing unusual winters.
Weatherman Joe Bastardi saw this as an opportunity to jump in and challenge Gore:
So let me get this straight, This cold is from climate change, Previous cold shots werent, Previous cold shots like 83-84 this period colder. So what these guys want us to believe is the cold is from climate change, but climate change made it come up short of previous cold shots https://t.co/JHRqdh6vIR

Heh @algore Big thaw coming like numerous years with as cold or colder starts, is that climate change? Is a Jan thaw, which happens enough to be in US weather lore, also a crisis, Why were previous shots colder? So climate change causes cold but prevents it from being as cold?

The rest of Twitter took the opportunity to drive home the point:
It’s cold in the US? It’s..almost as if it’s winter, or something

Bastardi continued to speak on the matter:
Only thing I can do is try to reach people that want to know the WHY BEFORE THE WHAT,Said hurricane season would see end of major hit drought in spring along with big wildfire season, Had roaring start to winter from October, None of that had anything to do
with climate change

Sometimes if you want to see forward, you have to look back. No one is anti science, anti model, anti “climate” But one must question authority of models and causes of variances if one truly wishes to pursue the answer

Bastardi is a veteran weatherman and known for his public questioning of the government’s position on man-made global warming.
